=50 Tukwila, Washington, January 26th 1909,- A Meeting of the Town Council was held on the above date, being. called to order by the Mayor at the hour of 8 o'clock, P.M. There were Present: Joel Shomaker, Mayors._ J.M.Hall, J.W. Wilson, Del Adelphia, Frank W.Johansen and J.G.Hopkins, Councilmen. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Del Adelphia reported a conference with the Standard Furniture Company, in connection with the painting and repairing of the Depot. at this place; the Standard Furniture Co. hel.e. agreed to paint and keep painted the depot, if the Town of Tukwila will repair it, and they, the Stand.Fur.Co be allowed.to maintain their adverising signs thereon, r After some discussion it was decided to give the committee more time In which to make, if possible, more satisfac arrangements with Furniture Company in regard to the matter. Mr. Hall reported that arrangements had been made whereby the Council could meet in.Forester's Hall; the second and fourth Tuesday evenings in each month being reserved for that purpose, at the rate of $2.50 per session. Report accepted. Ordinance No. 14, relating to salary and bonds for officials of the Town, was passed on its second reading and ordered to be published:- The committee appointed for the purpose of looking after the mat ter of the grading of Engel Hill _advised the rejection of the bid`of .w B.H,Sassner, and unanimously advocated the building of a trestle instead_= .of. grading and filling; but, after more or less discussiori• of the sub jest in open council, serious opposition developed and it. was decided' to give the committee two weeks more time in which to investigate. Mr. Wilson reports that "Johnson" has closed up Rainier Avenue referred to the Town Attorney. The Mayor stated that Col, Woodward of the Seattle- Tacoma Power., Co, would be in the Town in the near future to discuss with the commit tee appointed for that purpose, the drainage of the "Flats Mr.Hopkins` moved' that the committee be given authority to act in conjunction with the Railway Co.,through its-agent, and definitely settle the matter, f Motion carried, The Mayor presented a petition from the Tukwila Improvement�Com- mittee, praying that the Mayor issue a proclamation, making the sixth day_of May, "Holly Day." Also for permission to put in a park for the' purpose of beautifying around the Depot. Referred to Coiamitte on Parks. The Mayor suggested that Messrs. Lauver Colville be employed to take a series of PhotoIs of different portions of the' Town for pacing on exhibition at`the A.Y,P,Exposition; and.connection with this sug- gestion, Mr. Johansen moved that a special committee -be appointed +t.o be known as committee on Publicity. Carried. Where any of the said streets, alleys, side- walks, bridges, ..culverts, sewers or-crossings shall, in the judg- ment of the said Town Marshal, need immediate repairing in order to protect the. interests of the .Town.,. he shall make sgch. repairs forthwith and report the same to the Council. at the first meeting thereafter.
