A5pecial Meeting of the Town Council was _held at the residence
-of Mr.'Wiederman on the above date._
Meeting was called to order by the Mayor at the hour of X 8:20
o'clock.P.M.
Present: Joel Shomaker Mayor
Del Adelihia,
John 0. Wold,
JM Hall and
.'J:W. Wilson, Councilmen.

The Mayor stated that the meeting had been. called specially,
for the onpi,deration ofe-Ordinances 12 and 13, creating improvement
districts Noe;. 3,and:4; these Ordinances were passed on their third
re$ding.�.; >signed- °by the ---triayor and =.the -'Clerk ordered to publish them, and
proceed in_the regular manner to carry out the intentions of the _Town

me committee-appointed to look into the matter of the gradird
of 'Engel Hill, reported as follows;
_.Y -r.. =Kline had surveyed the ground under consideration, and had
prepared maps and profile, demonstrating that"by removing 720
cubic yards of earth from the West slope of. the hill and deposit
ing the save in the hollow at t e foot thereof, a grade of about
E 227 could be established, and that by removing about 280 cubic
yards from the Eastern slope of said hill, and depositing.. it
i the hollow at the foot thereof, a like grade could be estab-
re
lished on that side, at a probable cost for the entire work of
from $300.00.to $600.00.
ifr. Wold argued for a trestle instead of grading, but after con-
siderable discussion, it was decided, unanimously, to adopt the
latter method, and the clerk was ordered toad rertise in the
customary manner for bids, but, was also instructed to
porate into'the call f'or proposals the following conditions:
First: "Bids -to be made separately and together Tor the above propo-
sitions."
Second: "Al:i things being equal, the successful bidder to employ men
who are residents-of the Totiw of Tukwila, at not less than
$2.00 per day of eight hours."
The matter of placing Culverts at the bot tom<::of the hill on both
the West and East sides was taken up, but, as the Town would
have this to do anyway, it was decided to drop the matter until
such time as t }:e matter of grading had. been decided.
The clerk was directed to notify the Independent Telephone
Company of Renton, Washington, that one of the poles-belonging to said
company, at the Corner -of Riverside Avenue and Highland Drive, stands
.in -the way of the improvement under way in District 1_'vo. 4, and that
the same must be removed at once.
The clerk.was also ordered to remunerate Lars. Gilkey, Jani-
tress at the Tukwila School House, in the amount of $2.00, for 01 e,Tning
the School Room after the,Mass Meeting which will be held Monday Fight,
November 23rd 1908.
.•-The following bills having been approved by the auditing
committee, warrants were ordered drawn ix. payment thereof;
D.C.Conover, A:ttorne 50.00; Crossing, corner of Main
Street and Hillman Boulevard, :17.70; Removing rock on Hillman Boulevdr-d
$6.95 The bills of Frederick W. Sears -for' printing and publishing
Ord finances, etc., for the Town, were rejected by the auditing committee
and "the clerk ordered to return them-to Sears for correction.
Upon suggestion of the 7�ia�or, a Mass Meeting eras celled for
Monday evening,at 8 :15, November 23rd 1908, as a caucus of the legal
of the Town of Tukwila.; for the purpose of nomir_ating .a Citi
zens' ticket for the coming election in December. The clerl" was ordered
to have a notice to that effect published in the Tukvrila Hazlenizt.
There being no further business to transact, at the hour of 10. :15,
meeting wao adjourned to Tuesday night, November 17th, 1908.
