A Special Meeting of the Town-Council was held on the above ,date..=

Meeting was called to order by the Mayor at .the h6ur'_of '8x05.
Present: Joel Shomaker,- Mayor..%

Del Adelphia,
John 0. Wold,
J.W:Wilson.and
J. M. Hall.' Councilmen.
The Mayor stated that.the Council had been called iri- §�ecialn
Session for the purpose of appointing :Judges of. the MAiiicipal_- Elec_=
tion to be held on December 8th, and also for the purpose of oonsid
ering methods for draining the water from off the land
and adjacent} to.
Rietz Avenue and north of Main Street,
Upon motion regularly made and seconded, Mr.: Wood.. was appo_1ntedg
Inspector of Election, and Messrs. Terry Parker__, ULdges,.ahey.:�to=w
appoint two clerks in their own discretion.
�Mr. Wold was directed to prepare a ballot box that could be us6c.,
for this, as well as any future election, and present his bill_ to =tw
Qouncil for payment.
The Clerk was authorized to prepare ballots, and arrange ivjv m
polling place and booths -for said election.
X ter a very complete and exhaustive discussion from .every poin=t_'
.of view, and after considering various suggestions of more less
merit, it was at last unanimously decided to build an underground
ditch for the purpose of carrying off the water from the East,side
of Main'Street; commencing said ditch at the foot of the Main St
hill; running thence to an intersection with Reitz Avenue, and contii
uing along Reitz Avenue to "a point opposite the culvert .under- the
tracks of the Puget- Sound Electric Railway, and there turning the
course of the water onto the right -of --way of the above named Railway,'-
and there-to follow its natural course through the above inen.
tioned Railroad culvert. Clerk ordered to purchase 3200 feet.of:..
2 x 12. lumber to be used in the construction of this ditch.
It was move and seconded that an gpen drain be constructed dn the1°
West side of Riverside Avenue and running into-the Railway right of =,T_
way, after first obtaining permission of the P.S.E.R'y, so to:�o
motion carried.
It was moved and seconded that the Road Supervisor be ineiructe
to confer with. Mr. Foster, with a view to securing permanent drainages,
for all of the property affected by the above system of drainage,_ E
which was considered to be more or less temporary. Motion carriedFu#
It was moved and seconded that Mr. Kline be' directed to take -h ie
instrument and ascertain the natural fall of Edward Avenue. Motion:
carried.
In connection with all of the above, an emergency was
to exist, /and it was unanimously decided to immediately begin
on the above named improvements.
Adelphia suggested a catch basin for the foot of the Main 'St.
hill, which was favorably considered,
There being no .further business_ to transact the hour of
9 :45 o clock P.M., meeting was adjourned to trte next `regular
