A regular meeting of the Town Council was held on the above 'date ,r at ,-the residence of the Mayor, at the hour of 8 ;00 P 11. Present; Joel Shomaker, -Mayor Del Adelphia, 'J.M.Hall R.H.Heath and J.M.Wilson, Councilmen. Minutes of the 1�att meeting were read and approved, J.M.Hall, one of the committee appointed to look up the mater of lighting the town, reported as follows. The Puget Sound Electric Co., who were expected to furr�ish the power for lighting, .stated in- a written communication that then would not fuPnish power, `for•the reason that they had no commercial wire at this point at pres- .ent; and that any other form of power was unsatisfactory. The report was therefore teas accepted and the committee directed to ascertain if-.there were not some other plan3of lighting which might be accepted by-the Town Council. A report from the Superintendent of Streets, dated Sept. 21, showed a total expenditure: to date, on the following streets, of $217.65, apportioned as follows; Dolly Avenue, $22.30; Riverside Avenue, 34.70; Main Street, 8 93.40; Highland Drive $32.15; Rietz Avenue, §7900; Maule Avenue 14,25;:Powder and Blacksmith work, #1.00. The Clerk supplemented this report with a statement to the 'ef__fec,t; that up to date, the following amount-,of money111ad• been µexpended under -the Warrant system; ,ZtreetSWork, including salary of Supt., and money -spent 'f or' Powder. `and Blacksmith work, $258.25 `Printing .8c.. Publishing 12.60 $270.85. cn=- rep.o.rts were accepted and ordered placed on file. Ordinance No. 11, relating to the obstruction of Streets, yas ,laid over until next meeting. A: resolution Was adopted, making the legal rate of interest on, all Warrants the Town-of Tukwila, eight per cent. (8 per annum, And'the Clerk was instructed to stamp all warrants, issued in the `future,. to that effect, purchasing a rubiber stamp for that purpose. i The subject of a place of meeting for the Town Council was brought-,up.,-and it was unanimously decided to accept Wiederman's of'the use of his house for that purpose,until permanent quar- ters could secured. A committee was appointed to find out the approximate cost of grading down what'is known as the "Parker Hi11 to report at the next meeting of 'the Council. It was moved and seconded that an.additional $25.00 be appro priated­.for the further improvement of Alain Street, and_ after some dis cussion the motion carried, Heath not voting; a condition of this Appropri ation was, that if any of the $25.00 was left after the re- quired_.improvement on Main St. was Qompleted, it should be expended on Hillman; Boulevard. There being no further busness_ tra meeting ;was adjourned at the hour of 9:45 P.M. C. 1 11 k. ..Section 2. .Hawkers shall pay a- -lice nse of 5.0O' er -:.da y .or _25.00 p per week, and_ any other person other than 15 duly °licensed# Auctioneer. who" offers goods, wares' merchandise` or� ier personal property for sale by outcry on the streets,;or4' who shall conduct business from a stand or wagon on the atreet or within the corporates limits of the Town of Tukwila:._ shall be deemed to be a hawker under this section. That peddlers and itinerant vendors of goods, wares and merchandise and other personal property shall pay a license of $5.00 per day or $25.00 per week. All persons who shall offer for sale by retail in the corporate limits of the Town of Tukwila, goods, wares and merchandise, upon the streets from wagons, from stands, or in private or public rooms, whether such rooms be rented temporarily for such purpose or not, shall be deemed peddlers and itinerant venders-under this ordinance provided that this ordinance shall not apply to farmers, rAnchers, and mechAnic who peddle the product of their farms, ranches or workshops, except peddlers of fish, who shall pay a license of $2.00 per month. Section 3. All. theatres, shows and other exhibits and public amusements shall be licensed and taxed as follows; minstrel Every theatrical show, concert, other troupe, -shall pay a license tax of $2. 50 for one -day or night's enter tainment and $5.00 for three successive days or nights, provided that this section shall not apply to exhibitions_ gotten up by home talent exclusively. .Section 4. Auctioneers shall pay a license -of $3.00 per day.
