HomeMy WebLinkAbout1922-08-10 Regular Minutes30 91 Tukwila, Washington. August 10, 1922. The regular monthly meeting of the Council of Tukwila was called to order by the Mayor at 8:35 P. M. There wre present Mayor E. F. Green, Councilmen W. F. Engel, C. G. Sanders, H. E. Ives, and M. L. Holmes, Councilman M. V. Lemon being absent. The minutes of the last regular meeting were read by the Clerk and approved as read. B I L L S The following bills were read by the Clerk and after being approved by the Finance Committee it was moved, seconded, and carried that they be paid,' and warrants drawn for their respective amounts: GENERAL FUND Kenneth Hall, 1.09 W. Groan Seattle 520.00 i Emil Pohl 1175.05 TOTAL $1997.80 COMMUNICATIONS The Town Treasurer's report for the month of July was read by the Clerk and ordered placed on file. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES Street Committee. Councilman Engel. The work on Warren Avenue has all been completed and that street is new in first class condition. The concrete sidewalk on the Pacific Highway has also been completed and is now open for traffic. bZecial C ommitt ee. Councilman Sanders. This committee appointed to investigate a location for an auto park in Tukwila decided that owing to the lateness of the-season it would not be advisable to open such a park this year and recommends that the matter be dropped until next spring. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. The crossing over the Interurban tracts opposite First Avenue which was considered at the last meeting was again brought up, and owing to some objection by residents of the Flat it Was moved and seceded that this matter be laid upon the table indefinitely. Motion carried. The question of improving Maule Avenue was brought up, and after some discussion it was moved and seconded that a fill be made on Maule Avenue from Mr. Blankenship's barn to the south side of First Avenue, and the ruts on Maule Avenue south of First Avenue as far as ter. Hopkins's property, also in the alley on the Flat to be filled so that these streets woud be passable; the total cost not to exceed $300.00. Motion carried. The Mayor recommended that bids be called for on the above work. The question of improving Riverside Avenue between Highland Drive and Tukwila Avenue was again brought up, and after some discussion it was moved August 10th (Conti.) and seconded that $200.00 be appropriated to improve Riverside Avenue by gradiiig and filling from property line to property line extending from Tukwila Avenue to the ?forth side of Lot 24, Block 4, and that the Town Engineer be instructed to prepare plans accordingly. Motion carried. Mr. F. J. Klein, town surveyor, presented the Council with data for the construotion of sidewalks along Warren and Riverside Avenue, and the Clerk was instructed to draw up resolutions for the construction of these walks and present .same at an adjourned meeting of the Council. j Councilman Engel reported that the crossing at Tukwila Avenue and Kinney Boulevard was in bad condition and should be replaced. The Mayor ordered the Street Committee to repair same. No further business occuring the Council adjourned at 9:45 P. M., to meet at adjourned session at the residence of Mr. H. E.
