June 16, 1922. The regular session of the Town Council, adjourned from June 8 to June 15, and on the latter date again adjourned on account of lack of quorum, was held on June 1 1922 in Hull's Hall. There were present: E. F. Greene, Mayor; W. F. Engel, Claude G. Sanders, Martin V. Lemon; Harley E. Ives and M. L. Holmes, Councilmen. The Clark being absent, Mr. Engel acted as Clerk. The first item of business considered was the sidewalk on Bluff Street. After some discussion Fir. Sanders, as Chairman of the Committee appointed to inves- tigate this matter, had made a full report, it was moved and carried as follows: That a contract be drawn between the Town of Tukwila and Mr. ?Dead, whereby Mr. Mead is to construct a sidewalk from the west limit of the Pacific Highway along Bluff Street along the entire length of the northerly side of his property, from which point Messrs. Walkup Steigler and Erickson will complete the walk to the top of the grade on the westerly side of Mr. Mead's property, at their own cost and expense. The Town of Tukwila, by its duly appointed or elected officers, to remove or burro the logs, brush and other debris, occasioned by the recent slide froft or over Bluff Street onto Mr. Mead -'s property, and to pay him such reasona- ble sum as may be agreed upon for damages to his property occasioned by said slide, he, Mr. Mead, signing such'instruen ,as may be necessary to forever re- ceive the said Town of Tukwila from any/N Offibility in connection with the said slide. The Town of Tukwila also to vacate f ©r Mr. Lead's benefit River Street, in accordance with the terms of a contract,formerly drawn up but never executed, in connection with the construction of this sidewalk and vacation of River Street. The Town Clerk was instructed to request the Puget Sound Power and Light Company to install a Street Light gn Second Avenue about on the line between Lots Six and Seven, Black Sixteen, East of Pole No. 3586. A discussion arose, in which several of the Townspeople participated, as to the opening of a new crossing over the Electric Railtoad line on first Avenue to con- nect with the Pacific Highway. Three new names were added to the protest against not particularly the opening of this crossing, but especially directed against the closing of the present crossing at the 'Bluff where it connects with the Alley. Finally, after quite a lengthy discussion, Mr. Lemon moved that the Town proceed to open "this crossing on first Avenue. This motion was seconded and after some further discussion was unanimously carried. A request was them made by citizens of the Flat that Second Avenue be opened to the Pacific Highway by a crossibb over the Electric Line. The Mayor appointed a Committee consisting of Cdr. Ives, Mr. Sanders and Mr. Lemon to confer at once with the Puget Sound Electric Railway Officials with this end in view. Cdr. Sanders moved that the improvements to the so- called Ballou and Ton Roads be carried out at once and that the Street Superintendent be instructed to spend not more than Fifty Dollars on each item.
