HomeMy WebLinkAbout1922-05-11 Regular Minutes380 Tukwila, Washington. May 11th, 1922 The regular monthly meeting of the Council of Tukwila was called to order by the Mayor at 8:20 P. M. There were present Mayor E. F. Green, Councilmen F. J. Klein, N. F. Engel, C. G. Sanders, H. E. Ives, and M. V. Lemon. The minutes of the last meeting were read and tpproved. B I L L S: The following bills were read by the Clerk and after being oked by the Finance Committee it was moved, seconded, and carried that they be paid and warrants drawn for their respective amounts: deneral Fund Seattle Daily Star Seattle 64.80 Herbert Christensen Tukwila 1.00. F. Frost 3.00 A. E. Hull 2.50- Follies Club 2.50- E. E. Lutz 10.00* Miller Engineering Co. Seattle 100.00 Greene Greene 15.00 P. S. Power Light Co. 30.60' Total 229.40 REPORTS OF COU2,'ITTESS Street Sidewalks. Councilman Engel. The sidewalk on Highland Drive extended has been repaired temporarily. No work has been done on the streets owing to the unsettled weathez but the Committee expects to put a grader on all of the streets in the near future and fix them in first class condition. Mr. A. G. Berg appeared before the Council at this time asking that some work be done on the street at the foot of Engel Hill which forms a portion of the west boundary of the town, stating that the county was doing considerable Work in that vicinity, and asked that the town do their share. The matter was referred to the Street Committee. C0IZIUNICATIONS: The Town Treasurerts report was read by the Clerk and ordered placed on file. The report of the County Auditor on the Municipal held May 2nd was read by the Clerk and ordered placed on file. 'VbFINZSHED BUSINESS The matter of installing a crossing over the interurban to connect with First Avenue was brought up discussed at length. Owing to some objectica by varicus residents of the Fiat on account of the inconvenience of obtaining water it was moved and seconded that the matter be laid over until the next meetitg. Moticn carried. Mr. Blenkenship appeared before the Council and requested that some grading on Maule Avenue be done in case the proposed interurban crossing was not put through. Moved and seconded that the matter be referred to the Street Committee. Motion carried. The clerk read the following bids for constructing a concrete walk along the Pacific Highway, Emil Pohl, Seattle, per ft. Lewis King Renton .96 Adams, Hancock Adams,Renton 1.12 After some discussion it was moved and seconded that all bids be rejected and the Clerk be instructed to advertise for new bids to be opened at the next Council s t #2 May 11th (Conti.) i meeting. The matter of establishing dice Avenue on the Flat was again brought Ur, and the Mayor stated that this street could not be opened until it had been properly advertised for thirty days. The Clerk was instructed to post notices accordingly, and no further action will be taken on this matter until the reguhr Council meeting on July 13th. NEW BUSINESS Mr. M. L. Holmes, Councilman elect, was sworn in by the Mayor, in order that he night be properly installed at the next regular meeting on June 5th.
