NEW BUSINESS
Councilman Klein brought up the matter of the damage on the Flat by
the encroachment of the river and requested several citizens of the Flat who
were present to state what their intentions were on this matter. Messrs. Jensen,_
Hopkins and Gilbert stoke at length upon the matter and stated that it was
their intention to endeavor to check the further washing away of the land by
putting in pipe and fencing which would be re- enforced with brush and rocks.
They further stated that the estimated_ cost for this improvement would be in
the neighborhood of 600.00, of which I300.00 had already been subscribed by the
parties interested. All money raised for this work was to go principally for
the materials used as the citizens of the Flat had agreed to donate their services.
Inasmuch as only half the required amount of money had been raised they requested
the Council to appropriate 1300.00 to insure the completion of this work.
After some discussion the Council recommended that a foreman be
appointed to oversee this work, and a motion was made, seconded, and carried
that the Council appropriate $500.00 for the purchase of material for the
prevention of the destruction of property along the river bank, this amount to
be held ur. until the adjacent property owners were united on the course -of action
and the project be approved by a representative of the Council. It was further
moved, seconded, and carried that Councilman Klein be the representative of the
Council in this work assisted by Councilman Ives. Motion carried.

new school house Warren Avenue had been left in an empassable condition
owing to the grading on the school grounds, and that at present the citizens
living along this street had no means of getting in or out excepting through

be purchased and the sidewalk committee be instructed to lap a temporary
