HomeMy WebLinkAbout1921-03-10 Regular Minutesr c 1 Tukwila, Washington. March 10th, 1921. The regular meeting of the Council of the Town of Tukwila was called to order by the Mayor at 8:40 P. M. There were present, Mayor E. F. Green, Councilmen F. J. Klein, V. F. Engel, M. V. Lemon, H. E. Ives, and C. Sanders. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. B I L L S The following bills were read by the Clerk and after being oked by the Finance Committee it was moved, seconded, and carried that they be paid and warrants drawn for their respective amounts: General Fund E. Million Seattle 1335.19 GRAND TOTAL $2214.87 COYEVIUNICATIONS: The Town Treasurer's report was read and ordered placed on file. A letter from Jones, Riddell Brackett regarding the payment of labor claim in the case of Smith Fielding versus Town of Tukwila was read by the Clerk. After some discussion it was moved and seconded, that the judgement be paid together with interest and court costs, and warrants be drawn for these amounts. Motion carried. REPORTS OF COW&ITTEES: Street Lights. It has been reported that there are various lights out in different sections of the torn, and the Light Committee, was instructed 'to report the matter to the Electric Company. School Committee. Plans and specifications for the contemplated school for Tu "ila were presented and after some discussion the plans were adopted by the Council. Charity Committee. The case which was reported at the last regular meetiN has been investigated and with the help of various citizens the matter was satisfac- torily disposed of. Streets and Sidewalks. The iaxious property owners of -Kenn? Blvd. have protested verbally to members of the committee regarding the proposed sidewalk on thwt street. After some discussion it spas moved and seconded that_ any protest be filed in writing with the Clerk before the next Council meeting. after further discussion on this matter the above motion was withdrawn. UNFINISHED BUSINY.8,3: The question of wages to be paid for street labor was brought up and die cussed at length; no action taken, however. The Mayor reported on an interview which he had had with County Commissioner Smith regarding the construction of a bridge across the Duwamish River near Tukwila to the affect that indications were that this bridge would no doubt be placed in this vicinity. The commissioner§ however, have taken no definite action on the matter. 2 (Conti) Furth 10th, 1921. UNFINIS BUS The question of street work on the Flat was brought up and moved and seconded that the necessary steps be taken to secure bids on this work. Motion carried.. A request was made to change the location of several street lights on the Flat. The matter was referred to the Light Committee. It was reported that the walk from Black River Station to the top of the .hill was in very bad condition and that a new walk has needed. After some discussi M the Clerk was instructed to draw a Resolution for a four foot (4 ft.) walk for this ;district and.present same at the next council meeting. A committee from the Ladies Improvement Club was present and offered a ;.proposition to the Council whereby they would purchase a lot on the Flat and present it to the Council for the purpose of constructing a hall- providing the council would take the necessary steps to construct same. The mayor appointed the following ;;committee to investigate the matter and report at the next meeting, v Sanders, ILleiny and Engel. It was reported that various streets throughout the town needed scraping :and dragging. The matter was referred to the street committee. No further business occuring the Council adjourned at 9 :55 P.
