HomeMy WebLinkAbout1921-01-11 New Council MinutesTukwila, Washington. January 11, 1921. The first meeting of the Fourteenth Town Council of the Town of Tukwila was called to order by Councilman F. J. Klein, senior member, at 9 :20 P. M. Mayor elect E. F. Green was sworn in by Justice of the Peace, J. L.Durbin, and was then presented with the gavel by Councilman Klein. Councilmen elect C. Sanders and H. E. Ives were then presented and sworn in by Mayor Green. Treasurer elect C.P. Jensen was also presented and sworn in by Mayor Green. The Mayor made the following appointments: Police Magistrate, J. L. Durb_n Marshall, F. D. Lovejoy; Town Clerk, E. E. Lutz. The Mayor then ma-3e A few remarks to the Council welcoming them and out lining the policies which he hoped to carry out during the coming year, after which he appointed the following committees: Streets, :alleys, Sidewalks. Drainage: W.F.Engel, C.Senders, M.V.Lemon, F.J.Eleln, Street Superintendent and Advisory. Laws and Ordinances: M. V. Lemon, H. E. Ives. Finances: H. E. Ives, C. Sanders and M. V. Lemon Elections: C. Sanders and H. E. Ives Cit Li ght Police: M. V. Lemon, C. Sanders and W. F. Engel. Health and Sanitation: W. F. Engel and X. V. Lemon i City Water: F. J. Klein, C. Sanders and W. F. Engel. Schools: W. F. Engel, F. J. Klein and C. Sanders Public Welfar$ and Charity: H. E. Ives, M. V. Lemon and C. Sanders Ways and Meens: Entire Council, F. J. Klein, Chairman. B I L L_ S A bill from J. A. .Whalley Co. for bonds $9.00 was read by the Clerk, and after being oked by the Finance Committee it was movel, seconded, and carried that .the bill be paid and a warrant drawn for the amount. t UNFINISHED BUSINK-S A communication from Stevens Koon regarding the installation of a water system for the Town was brought up end after some discussion it was moved and seconded it be referred to the water Committee. Motion carried-. NE:Y BUSINESS The bonds of C. P. Jense:},J. L. Durbin, F. D. Lovejoy, and E. E. Lutz were presented by the Clerk. Moved and seconded that the bonds be accepted. Motion carri ad. The question of constructing sidewalks throughout various parts of the town was then krought up, -nd after a general discussion the matter was referred to .'the Street and Sidevialk Committee to report at the next regular meeting. It was reported that Kenney Boulevard was in need of repairs. The matter was referred to the Street Committee. A general discussion was held regarding the contemplated bridge to be placed across the Duwamish River near Tukwila, but no action was tgken. No further business appearing the Council adjourned at 10 :10 P. M. Attest: Town Clerk. Mayor. y
