SPONSOR'S The Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation (IAC) requires a formal resolution for
SUMMARY a grant application. This resolution will authorize funding assistance for the Duwamish
Gardens site along the Duwamish River through an Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account
(ALEA) program.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKI"iILA,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING
ASSISTANCE TO THE INTERAGfu'lCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR
RECREATION (lAC) FOR At'l AQUATIC LAt'lffiS ENHANCEMENT
ACCOUNT (ALEA) PROGRMvi PROJECT, KNOV,'N AS THE "DUWAt\1ISH
GARDENS ACQillSITION PROJECT: AS PROVIDED IN RCW 79.105.150
MI.'D SUBSEQUENT LEGISLATIVE ACTION.
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila has approved a Comprehensive Plan that includes
the Duwarnish Gardens Project area; and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of ALEA, state funding assistance is requested to
aid in financing the cost of land acquisition and/ or facility development; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila considers it in the best public interest to go forward
with the Duwarnish Gardens Acquisition Project;
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Public Works Director shall be authorized to make fonnal application to lAC
for funding assistance.
2. Any funding assistance received shall be used for implementation of the
Duwarnish Gardens Acquisition Project, as shown on Exhibit A.
3. The City ofTubvila hereby certifies that its share of project funding is committed
and will be derived from the City's Parks and Recreation ~01 Fund.
4. The City of Tubvila acknowledges that it is responsible for supporting all
non-cash commitments to the sponsor share if the grant is not approved.
5. The City of Tubvila acknowledges that any property acquired or facility
developed with lAC financial aid must be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility
and be retained in such use in perpetuity, unless otherwise provided, and agreed to by
our organization and IAC (generally, lAC approves removing facilities from the
perpetuity requirement when the facilities have reached their designed life expectancy,
or because of extraordinary vandalism, acts of nature, fire, etc.).
6. This resolution shall become part of a fonnal application to lAC.
7 The City of Tub,'ila shall provide appropriate opportunity for public comment
on this application.
