HomeMy WebLinkAbout1920-09-20 Special Minutes1 Tukwila, Washington. September 20th, 1920. A special meeting of the Council called by order of the Mayor was called to order at 7:10 P. M. There were present Mayor E. F. Green, Councilman F. J. Klein; M. V. Lemon, W. F.Engel, and A. J. Erickson. T e Mayor appointed 1 J. G. Hopkins as Councilman to fill the unexpired term of J. B. Heemink resigned. Moved and seconded that the appointment be confirmed by the Council. Motion carried. Ir. Hopkins was then sworn in by the Mayor. The Clerk read the proposed budget to cover the expenses of the town for the coming year, and was moved and seconded that it be adopted as read. Motion carried. _he m-wt ,er of street imrrovements Liras then brought up wad after some cis 'cession it eras moved that a sum not to exceed $500.00 be appropriated from the 1919 Pond Fund, to be used by the Street Committee for the following street improvemcnts: ;gravelling Main Street from Tukwila Ave. to the south side of Lot 8, Block 11; ins t In- gutters on Main Street from Tukwila to Clarence Avenues; gravelling Tukwila Ave.; :from Main Street towards Warren Ave. to a point where solid rock begins; gravelling 'the intersection of Tukviila Ave. and Kenny Blvd., and on Tukwila Ave. in .front of Arr. North's property. Motion carried. Moved z;nd seconded that a sum not to exceed X50.00 be appropriated from the General Fund to be used by the Street Committee to improve by gravelling and installing gutters at the foot of the trestle on Engel Hill, in front of Mr. Berg's property, and to renew the crossing at the intersection of Main Street and the Pacific Highway, using throe inch plank. Motion carried. The Mayor reported that he had interviewed the Renton Lumber Co. and they had agreed to waive their right of seniority on our Warrant, No. 1=52. Motion was 'then made and seconded that Warrant No. 1452, issued to the Renton Lumber Co. be cancelled and a new warrant in its stead be issued at the regular meeting of the council in October; the Renton Lumber Co. having waived their right of claim of .seniority in the .payment of said war No. 1452. Motion carried. The Clerk reported that he had interviewed the Denny-Renton Coal Clay Co. s and that they had agreed to compromise their bill for the sum of ;125.00. Moved and' :seconded that the offer be accepted and that the corrected bill be presented to the next regular meeting of the Council. Motion carried. Moved and seconded that Maule Avenue near Mr. Durbin's property and the alley between First and Second Aven=ges be improved by filling where neces3a,ry. Motion carried. Moved and seconded that the specifications in Resolution No. 19 be ammended to make the sidewalk width conform to the width of the trestle on Engel Hill. Motion carried. Moved and seconded that the contemplated grade on main Street from Tukwila to Clarence Avenues by abandoned and the present grade be accepted as permanent. Motion carried. After some discussion regarding the finances of the town it vices moved and seconded that the Ida-yor and Treasurer arrange with the Marine Bank of Seattle for the loan of $500.00 for six months to meet the necessary expenses of the town.
