HomeMy WebLinkAbout1920-05-13 Regular Minutes334 Tukwila, Wash. May 13, 1920 The regular monthly meeting of the Council of tae Town of Tukwila was called to order by the Mayor at 8:10 P.M. There were present, Mayor, E. F. Green, Councilmen, F. J. Klein, J. B. Heemink, W. F. Engel M. V. Lemon, and A. J. Erickson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. f' REPORTS_ OF COMMITTEES: [I REPORTS reet Committee. Councilman Klein. There has been no work of any importance done on the streets within the 0- past month. After a general discussion regarding the present condition of the ;:streets the motion was made and seconded that the Street Superintendent go over all ;;the streets and make the necessary repairs, such as scraping, etc. The motion :I carried. i Sidewalk_ Committee. Councilman Lemon. So far no opinion has received from the Town Attorney regarding the !j sidewalk on Reitz Avenue. Councilman Engel reported the bridge on Tukwila Avenue has been damaged ;'by iir. R. Coates of Foster. The Clerk was instructed to write him requesting him to repair the damage. The Street Superintendent was ordered to notify property owners to repair !damaged sidewalks. i. Several street lights have been reported out in various parts of the town. i ?Councilman Klein stated that he would see the Electric Company was notified. &ecial Commmittee on sale of Motorcycie, Councilman Engel, has had several prospective buyers for the machine, ;'but nothing definite to report as yet. i COMMUNICATIONS TreasurerRs Report. Read by Clerk and ordered placed on file. B I L L S The following bills were read by the Clerk and after being 0. Ytd by the Finance Committee was moved and seconded that they be paid and warrants drawn for their respective amounts, P. S. T.L. P. Co. $27.20 if Renton Wagon Works 21.05 i� A. Heemink 5.00 E. E. Lutz 10.00 A. E. Hull 2.50 A. Dollar 5.00 J. Johnson 5.00 F. McDonald 16.88 State Bureau of Inspection 3.50 Total $96.13 In reference to the above bill from the State Bureau of Inspection the Clerk ;read a letter and report from the Bureau regarding special investigation of the affairs cr the Town. `I Treasurer Jensen alsh reported that the sum of 6 7,-5 had been withdrawn from ;the last remittance from the County Treasury:to corer the expense of this audit in ;addition to the above bill whi was for transcribing same. After a general dis- "cussion it was moved and seconded that the Clerk be instructed to send a resolution "'to the State Auditor to the ef'f'ect that the action of the officers of the Town had beep !4-isrepresented by the party making a complaint and requesting him to furnish the ;;Council with a copy of this complaint if possible. Motion carried. UNFINIMED BU_S Ordinance No'. 78, Building Grdinance, was read by the Clerk. Moved and seconde' iithat it be adopted. Motion Carried. Ordinance No. 85, providing for the appointment of building inspector, was read oy the Clerk. Moved and seconded that it be adopted. Carried. 33 May 13th, 1920. 2 UNFINISHED BUSINESS (Conti_. The matter of installing a Street light on Riverside Avenue was again brought up and it was moved and seconded that it be laid upon the table indefinitely. Koticn carried. i NEW BUSINESS The Mayor reported on the lawsuit between the Street Contractors and the Town. and the matter was discussed for some length by the Council.l fir. McDonald appeared •before the Council and asked that the drainage problem on the Stauffer property be ,linvestigated. The matter was referred to the mays Means Committee to report on at the next meeting. Treasurer Jensen asked that a action be taken towards getting the various sidelValk assessments paid as soon as possible.
