February 12th, 1920
The regular monthly meeting of the Council of the Town of Tukwila was
called to order by _the Mayor at 8:15 P. M. There were present, Mayor,
E. F. Greene, Councilmen W. F. Engel, M. V. Lemon, J. B. Heemink, A. J. Erickson,
and F. J. Klein.
The minutes of the last regular -and special meeting were read and approved,-

Street Committee. Councilman Klein.
The brush on Riverside Avenue has been out according to instructions
ii The catch basin ordered installed on the Flat has not been put in
as yet owing to the high water.
i Sidewalk and dra.ina. -e. Councilman Lemon.
The sidewalks on Second and 14aule Avenues, which were taken out to
make way for street improvements, have not been replaced and they are needed at this
;;time. By order of the Mayor the matter was laid over and brought up under new
i' business.

The matter of installing one additional street light on Riverside
Avenue has been taken up with the Electric Company and they have promised to send a
!;man out to look over the proposition within the near future.

A letter from the Bureau of Inspection and Supervision of Public Offices
commending the Town on their excellent financial condition was read by the Clerk and

Communication to the Chief of Police was read and referred to the 'Marshall.

The above bills were all O.K'd by. the Finance Committee with the exception,
of the bill for the Clerk which Councilman Heemink objected to on the grounds of the
legality of raising the Clark's salary. After some discussion the motion was made
and seconded that the bills be ordered paid and warrants drawn for their respective
amounts. Motion carried.

Ordinance No. 78 , Building Ordinance, was read by the Clerk. Motion made
;;and seconded that sane be referred to the Ordinance Committee for completion, and be
;,'brought up at the next meeting.
Ordinance No. 6 referring to licensing of dogs was brought up and referred
to the Marshall to report on at the next meeting.
1 BUSINESS
The motorcycle belonging to the Town was discussed at length by the entire
!Council, and it was moved and seconded that Councilman Engel take the machine to his
;;home, clean it thoroughly, and endeavor to sell it; all offers to be submitted to
!the Council for their approval. Motion carried. The Mayor called attention to
i the error in the meeting of September 11th whereby he voted on this matter in the
case of a tie vote by the Council. The above motion will take precedence over this
;!error.
The Mayor brought up the matter of Main Street being damaged by water and
;recommended that the Street Committee take some action at once. It was moved and
;!seconded that the Superintendent of Streets
"see that suitable`measures` are taken to prevent further from water on the
;;streets of the Town. Motion carried,
Councilman Erickson recommended the streets be improved adjacent to

Mr. 49 alkup's property. Several other streets in that locality were brought up
by different members of the Council and the entire matter was referred to the
Street Committee with recommendation that the entire Council inspect the streets in
question, meeting at Councilman Engel's residence at 10:30 A.M. Sunday February 15th.
Several members ofthe Council brought up the question of dragging several
streets throughout the town. The entire matter was referred to the Street Committee.
Upon recommendation of Councilman Engel the Clerk was instructed to notify
the property owners on Tukwila avenue to construct the sidewalk to connect the
present bridge with the sidewalk constructed by the county.
The Mayor spoke at length on the present condition of the contract the
Town entered into with Smith Fielding, explaining that the town could do nothing
at the present time until the contractors, or their attorneys, had taken some action:
Councilman Engel reported several complaints throughout the Town regarding
sanitsry conditions. The matter was referred to the Health Committee.
The mayor appointed Pr. Aichols of Riverton as Health Officer for the
ensuing year. The Clerk was instructed to notify him of his appointment and request
him to confer with Councilman Engel at his earliest convenience.
Councilman Erickson recommended that the tools belonging to the Town be
assembled and placed in a shed for protection.
The Clerk was instructed to procure blank notices advisin; rropsr ty owners
of sidewalk repairs needed.
Treasurer Jensen made a. st¢teincot to the Council as to the financial
outlook of the Town for the coming year, calling special attention to the necessity
for the strictest economy in all departments.
No further business appearing the Council adjourned at 10:30 P. if.
