HomeMy WebLinkAbout1919-09-11 Regular MinutesTukwila, Washington, September 11th, 1919. The regular monthly meeting of the Town Council was called to order by the 'Mayor on the above date at 8:30 P. M. There were present, Mayor E. F. Green i'Councilmen Heemink, Wallenburg, Klein, and Kassner. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES Street Committee, Councilman Klein. The following streets have been worked on, and up to the present time a majority of them practically brought to grade, Main Street, Clarence Ave., 'Riverside Ave., Hazel Ave., and Outlet Avenue. The old sidewalks have been replaced ;.on Main St. The work on the Flat has been stopped temporarily. Bills. The following bills were read by the Clerk and after being 0. K'd by the Finance Committee warrants were drawn for the payments of same: Letter from the State Bureau of Inspection. Read and ordered filed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Ordinance No. 78, and ordinance No. 85 were ordered laid on the table. NEW BUSINESS The matter of disposing of the motorcycle belonging to the town was brcu ghtj '.uo and discussed at length, after which a motion was made and seconded that the motoi- ';cs _tie be sold. Roll call vote was taken which was as follows, Wallenburg No Kassner Yea Klein Yes Heemink No ';The vote being a tie, the 'vlayor cast a deciding vote in favor of the motion.. Motion ;carried. The street improvements were then brought up and discussed at length. Inasmuch as the drain on the Fl at was needed at once the motion was made and seconded' .that the former action of the Council be reconsidered and that-a 10 inch pipe be installed at once. Motion carried. The guard rail was reported needed along the, McDonald road, and the matter was referred to the street committee. Councilman Mein reported that to date the contractors had moved 3380 yards of dirt. Inasmuch as they had not wor]F-ed for several days and it was reported that 1they had broken the contract the Clerk was instructed to notify Messrs. Smith ,Fielding, as well as their bondsmen,, to complete the,wo rk at once, and inasmuch as .their next payment on the contract was not due until Sept. 16th no action was taken at this time. It was reported that a small amount of work was needed in the street near ..Mr. Berg's property. Moved and seconded that the Street Committee be instructed to make the necessary repairs. Motion carried. The sidewalk on Reitz Ale. which has been under discussion for some time ;;was again brought up and the Street Gommittee was ordered to fix this sidewalk tem- rorarily until such time as the town attorney can make a report on his work with J the County Couuaissioners. Councilman Klein reported that an undesirable character had been seen in town. The matter was referred to the police department. Councilman Klein reported that the fill on Warren Avenue had exceeded the plans and specifications, and recommended that a cut be made.
