Mayor Frank Todd called the Special Meeting to order at 8:00 P.M.
TRAYNOR, STERLING, JOHANSON, HILL, GARDNER. Mayor Todd explained Coun-
cilman Crain submitted his resignation from Tukwila City Council effec-
tive December 21. MOVED BY HILL, SECONDED BY STERLING, TO EXCUSE ABSENT
COUNCILMAN STEVENS. CARRIED.
Mayor Todd introduced Judge Frank Payne, Tukwila Municipal Court, who
administered the oath of office to the new officials except for those
who have requested Tom Forsythe, King County Councilman, to do so.
Councilman Forsythe was welcomed and introduced. Councilman Forsythe
then reflected on his own swearing in at Tukwila City Hall in 1967, stat-
ing that this is an emotional moment for new officials after much hard
work in campaigns. He stated he and Catherine Harris have been good
friends since their Civil Air Patrol days in 1958 and it was an honor
and a privilege to give the oath of office to her. King County Council-
man Forsythe then issued the oath of office to Councilwoman Harris.
Councilman Forsythe also issued the oath of office to Councilman Gardner,
stating he and Mr. Gardner had served together for two years on the
Tukwila City Council. Judge Frank Payne administered the oath of office
to City Treasurer Mae Harris. Judge Frank Payne then administered the
oath of office to Councilwoman Davis and Councilman Saul. Mayor Todd
extended his congratulations to the new officials and stated he hoped
all could work harmoniously together in 1974. He thanked the outgoing
Council Members and stated he appreciated the opportunity of working
with them.
MOVED BY HILL, SECONDED BY STERLING, THAT THE MEETING ADJOURN. CARRIED.
