VALLEY INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION
The meeting of January 25, 1960 was called to order at 8 p.m. at
the Renton City Hall by Chairman Jack Sprenger. Members and
directors were present as indicated on the attached register.
Chairman Sprenger opened the meeting with round -table discussion
on aims and purposes of the organization and was followed by
Mayor Baker giving his thoughts when organizing the commission.
John Fournier added his views and the many points were then re-
solved down to the Duwamish problem, planning and zoning and the
valley highway program.
Acting for Mayor Thornton of Kent, Donald Bell, Jr., extended an
invitation to hold the next meeting on February 29, 1960, at the
Kent City Hall at 8 p.m. Mayor Baxter was designated to invite
to this meeting a representative of Stevens and Thompson, consulting
engineers, to discuss their interim report to City of Renton on off
site surface drainage in the Green River Valley area within the
cities of Renton and Kent.
Chairman Sprenger offered to invite Denny Given for the meeting of
March 28, 1960.
Chairman Sprenger appointed Paul Wieser as chairman of a committee
consisting of Harold Iverson, Bev Morrison and Ray Sonnemann to meet
with the various City Planning Commissions and report back at the
March 28th meeting with ideas on assisting those commissions in
developing plans for compatible zoning of those areas where the
respective city limits are contiguous.
Chairman Sprenger appointed Jerry Shellan as chairman with John
Strander and Harry Batchelder on a committee to draft a set of
by -laws for the commission.
