The 11th Council of the Town of Tukwila
met in regular session in
the Council Chamber in Lutz Hall Tuesday evening.
The meeting was called to order by
Mayor Stevens. Councilmember Wallenberg Erickson
Klein and Kassner answering to the
roll call. Councilmember Hemmick being absent.
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.
Superintendent of Streets Klein reported that the walks
had been repaved, the sidewalks finished, stairway
near Gilliland's had been finished and
gravel found in the gravel pit.
Hans Weiderman claimed to ahve an agreement with the Town
that the Town was to keep the strip of land
running through his property in good condition.
Councilmember Klein was instructed to
look after information concerning deed.
Finance committee no report
Fire and Police no report
Law and Ordinance - Councilmember Erickson
reported that the ordinance prohibiting children
coasting down sidealks had not been prepared.
The City Attorney still being in Alaska.
Health committee - The Mayor instructed
the Health Committee and the entire Council
to investigate any sickness and report it
to the Health Officer and Health Committee.
This in relation to the Spanish Influenza epidemic.
The Mayor reproted that motorcycle Officer Long had been
notified to have every child at home
by 9 PM.
Lights - councilmember Kassner reported that
he had selected following places for new
street lights. In flats near Hagen's
Warren Avenue between Tukwila and C. Caracus
Another light in Main Street near town in road
One at Sweet's corner, Main Street and Clarence Avenue
One at Riverside between Tukwila Avenue and Clarence Avenue
One on Keury between Tukwila Avenue and Clarence Avenue
Mayor Stevens reported that he had seen
Mr. Gant of the Electric Light Company had stated
he would do all he could, but that they had
a man.
The decision of Maurice D. Lechy regarding
bids for material over $100.00 was read and
discusses. Councilmember Klein then made
the motion seconded by Councilmember Wallenberg
that the Mayor be empowered to buy
Excelsia motorcycle Presto Equipment and Warner
Speedometer and to sign necessary notes
and have warrant for its first payment.
First payment - $100.00 and $1.00 in account of
purchase price. Total of $101.00 amount of
note of first payment. Whole amount in
machine $386.00 to be paid in twelve
notes at stated intervals. Carried. Bill of $101.00 Ok'd
by Finance Committee.
The estimated budget of 1919 was then
read and it was found necessary to reduce the
street fund $81.00 to comply with valued
assessment making Budget $1,705.00 for year 1919.
Motionw as made by Councilmember Kassner
and seconded by Councilmember Erickson that the
budget as read by the Clerk be accepted. Carried.

An ordinance providing for the levy of 10 mills
tax within the limit of the Town of Tukwila
was read by the the Clerk.
councilmember Kassner moved seconded by
Councilmember Wallenberg tha tthe ordinance be
accepted as read by the City Clerk and placed upon its
final passage. Upon roll call Councilmember
Wallenberg Erickson Klein and Kassner voted yes
that a levy of 10 mills be assessed for 1919.

The ordinance was then read by title and
placed upon its final passage.

Ordinance 73 providing for warrants
drawn within General Fund and fixing interest
thereof was read by the City Clerk. Councilmember
Klein moved that the ordinance be passed on
read and to take its usual course. Ordinance
was then read by title and placed upon its final
passage. Councilmembers Wallenberg Erickson
Klein and Kassner voting yes.
Councilmember Klein seconded by Councilmember
Erickson moved that City Clerk be instructed to buy
blank ordinance book. Carried.
Supertindented of Streets Klein presented assessment roll
of Clark property. lot 14 Block 11 accounting to
$135.00. Councilmember Klein seconded by
Councilmember Kassner moved that a hearing
on protest in their assessment roll be held
at next regular meeting November 12th and that notices
be sent to Mr. Clark and notices to post in
usual places. Carried.
The petition signed by taxpayers asking that
Main Street be graveled and that expense be taken from
General Fund is of the Town was read by City Clerk.
Councilmember Klein seconded by Councilmember
Wallenberg moved that Councilmember Erickson
collected $5.00 from any signer of petition
abutting property owners on Main Street.
Councilmember Erickson moved seconded by
Councilmember Wallenberg that Superintendent of Streets
Klein be instructed to get a bid to have
gravel on 2 blocks on Main Street and
as soon as that is made known an adjourned
meeting will be called to prepare ordinance.
Carried.
Mr. Hopkins was instructed to see if people
in his district to would stand for assessment
for fixing drain in his district and to report
in adjourned meeting.
It was decided to build fence on
Steigler in November.
Councilmember moved to adjourn to
adjourned meeting at call of chain in near
future.
