HomeMy WebLinkAbout1918-06-11 Regular MinutesJune 11, 1918 The 11th Council of the Town of Tukwila met in regular session in the Council Chamber Tuesday evening. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevens. Councilmembers Erickson Kassner and Klein responding to the roll call. Councilmember Wallenberg and Hemmick being absent. Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. The following bills were read by the Clerk and OK'd by the Finance Committee: Puget Sound Traction Light and Power Company $21.25 Caroline Lutz $2.00 John Klein $2.75 F. Gott $1.00 Alicia D. Stevens $5.00 J.W. Pierce $6.40 O. Olsen $13.56 Mr. Swayne $17.50 Chas. Monster $53.75 frank McDonald $58.80 chas Graham $100.00 Total $282.01 Councilmember Kassner seconded by Councilmember Erickson moved that all bills as OK'd by Finance Committee be accepted and Clerk be authorized to draw warrants for same. Carried. Superintendent of Streets Klein reported that the streets of the Town were in good conditio, and that the sidewalks had been repaired. Councilmember Klein made a motion seconded by Councilmember Kassner that the Clerk be instructed to write a note to Commissioner Smith thanking him for the use of the County teams on work in our streets. Carried. Councilmember Klein was instructed to see if any of our plans in Old Renton Bridge would be of use to the Town for sidewalks. Finance Committee no report Law and Ordinance - Councilmember Erickson reported that City Attorney Jones had not returned to Seattle. Fire and Police no report Health Committee no report Police Chief no report The report of the Town Treasurer was read and ordered placed on file. No communications. The Clerk was instructed to write a letter to Mr. Clark regarding sidewalk in front of his property on Tukwila Avenue at Main Street. The Clerk was instructed to post notices about Canadian Thistles in conspicuous places. Councilmember Kassner seconded by Councilmember Erickson moved that Chairman of STreet Committee be authorized to secure labor to cut thistles in street at the proper time. Councilmember Kassner moved seconded by Councilmember Erickson that Chairman of Street Committee be authorized to secure somebody to burn up brush at Tukwila and Warren Avenue. The Mayor reported that Mrs. Purcell had been appointed Registration Clerk. Councilmember Klein seconded by Councilmember Kassner moved that the appointment of Mrs. Purcell as Registration Clerk be accepted by Council. Carried. It was decided that the Council help with the July 4th Celebration in Tukwila. Councilmember Erickson Seconded by Councilmember Kassner moved that the July 4th Committee be given permission to use lumber needed and to replace same. Councilmember Erickson seconded by Councilmember Kassner moved that the Street Committee be authorized to buy lumber to build tool house for the City Tools, and to erect same in best location possible.
