The 11th Council of the
Town of Tukwila met in regular session in the
Council Chamber in Lutz Hall.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevens
Councilmembers Wallenberg Erickson Klein and
Hemmick answering the roll call.
Superintendent of Streets Klein stated that he had no
report to make on Main Street, that he had been
unable to secure teams. He reported the sidewalk
on Tukwila from Main Street to Riverside Street to be in
very bad condition, and needing instant attention,
and that the grade had been established in
Tukwila Avenue between Main Street and Warren Avenue.
Councilmember Hemmick seconded by Councilmember
Wallenberg made a motion that the Superintendent of Streets
be given authority to do what he can to put
the streets of the Town in shape, and to hire a team
at the rate of $10.00 a day and use at his discretion. Carried.
Finance Committee no report
Police and Fire no report
Law and Ordinance - Councilmember Erickson
reported that Attorney Jones had not returned from
Washington.
Health Committee - Councilmember Wallenberg
reported that he had secured copy of State Law in
quarantine for contagious diseases from the Health
Officer, Dr. Nichols.
Councilmember Klein made a motion that the
Clerk be instructed to write a letter to Mr. Dimmitt
and to teachers of Tukwila School regarding the
quarantine notices, and also to post two or three
in conspicuous places.
councilmember Erickson made amendment that
a copy be sent every family with children in Tukwila.
Seconded by Councilmember Hemmick. Amendment
carried. Original motion with amendment carried.
Town Treasurer C.P. Jensen reported that the
Town was now out of debt.
Special Committees - Discussion on placing
sign posts for Pacific Highway.
Councilmember Kassner arrived at this moment.
Communication from H.O. Fishback
Insurance Commissioner regarding
July 4th celebration was placed on file.
Councilmember Kassner moved that a vote of
thanks be given to Mrs. Sanders for giving material
for mending the big flag, and also to those
who has assisted in mending the flag.

OK'd by finance Committee:

councilmember Klein made motion that
bills be accepted and the Clerk be instructed
to draw warrants for same.
councilmember Hemmick moved and Councilmember
Wallenberg seconded that the Council draft
ordinances for necessary sidewalks from
Warren Avenue to Riverside Avenue in Tukwila Avenue.
Superintendent of Streets was instructed to go over
all sidewalks in Town and repair all
broken boards. Mr. Clein was also instructed
to get boys to clean out the sewer.
The Clerk was instructed to get the necessary
envelopes, rock or rubber bands, on motion by
Councilmember Klein seconded by Councilmember
Kassner.
The Mayor brought up the matter of celebrating
July 4th in Tukwila with a
Councilmember Kassner moved that we celebrate
in Tukwila on July 4th.
On roll call vote Councilmember wallenberg
erickson Kassner Klein and Hemick voted yes.
Meeting then adjourned to June 11, 1918.
