HomeMy WebLinkAbout1918-04-09 Regular MinutesApril 9, 1918 The 11th Council of the Town of Tukwila met in regular session in the Council Chamber in Lutz Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevens at 8:30 PM. Those present were Councilmembers Wallenberg Erickson Kassner Hemmick and Klein. The Deputy Clerk being absent Councilmember Klein was appointed Clerk for the evening. superintendent of Streets Klein made a reprot of not being able to get any teams and could not complete work. Councilmember Kassner of the Street Committee made a report on the walk on Tukwila Avenue saying that Mr. Clark and Mr. Guist are ready to lay the walks as oon as the grade is established. Mayor Stevens reported that the Council get the lumber from the County to lay sidewalks in the Pacific Highway. Finance Committee no report Fire and Police no report Law and Ordinance no report Health - councilmember Wallenberg reported that he had written to the owner of the property on which slaughter house is located, notifying them regarding the premises. The letter was read by the Clerk. The report of the Town Treasurer was read and ordered placed on file. Police Chief no report Report of Poundmaster read and placed on file. Communication from Goodrich Rubber Company read and placed on file. Communication from Mrs. Caroline Lutz. Mrs. M.M. Lutz and Eugene E. Lutz was read and placed on file. Resolution of sympathy to the Lutz Family on occasion of their bereavement were read and placed on file. Resolution thanking the Women's Improvement Club for presenting the service flag to the Town of Tukwila were read and placed on file. Following bills were read by the Clerk and OK'd by the Finance Committee. Puget Sound Traction and Light Company $42.50 Caroline Lutz $2.00 C.W. Groome $5.20 J.W. Pierce $0.80 C.P. Jensen $7.98 A.D. Stevens $5.00 Total $63.48 On motion by Councilmember Kassner Clerk was instructed to draw warrants for all bills OK'd by Finance committee. Motion made by Councilmember Hemmick that Clerk notify Electric Light Company in regards to lights out of order. Speed Ordinance laid over until next meeting. Street Committee was authorized to get material for signs. Mayor Stevens reported that Dr. Nichols had been appointed Health Officer. Motion made by Councilmember Hemmick to accept Dr. Nichols as Health Officer. Carried. Motion was made by Councilmember Kassner seconded by Councilmember Erickson authorizing Town Treasurer C.P. Jensen to pay outstanding warrants as soon as money was available. The Treasurer to post notice of warrant call in the Bulletin Board. Carried. Motion was made by Councilmember Kassner that the Clerk notify Mr. Gott to refrain from driving over the sidewalks. Meeting then adjourned until May 14, 1918. Alicia D. Stevens Deputy Clerk
