HomeMy WebLinkAbout1917-10-09 Regular MinutesOcotber 9, 1917 The 10th Council of the Town of Tukwila met in regular session in the Council Chamber in Lutz Hall. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevens Councilmembers Wallenberg Erickson Kassner Klein and Hemmick answering to the roll call. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Minutes of the Special Meeting on October 1st and adjourned meeting on October 2nd were read and approved. The Report of the Treasurer was read and ordered placed on file. The Report of Municipal Magistrate read and ordered placed on file and the matter to be taken up under head of New Business. Superintendent of Streets reported on sidewalk on Main Street and stated that lumber was still on the way. The Report of the Poundmaster was accepted and ordered placed on file. Finance Committee no report Street Committee no report Law and Ordinance no report Councilmember Erickson reported that an investigation had been made of tapping the City water on Beacon Hill. Councilmember Wallenberg reported that the Health Committee had met and drafted suitable ordinances for the Town of Tukwila. The City Attorney being out of Seattle had caused delay in matter. Special Committees. The Mayor reported that the case of Brick in the highway stood the same as 30 days ago. The case had been presented in briefs to the Supreme Court in appeal. The report of the County Treasurer was read and ordered placed on file. The following bills were read by the Clerk and OK'd by the Finance Committee: C.P. Jensen $16.06 R.H. Kassner $14.60 Caroline Lutz $2.00 Puget Sound Traction Light and Power Company $21.25 Joseph Hozack $5.00 Total $58.91 Councilmember Kassner seconded by Councilmember Klein moved that all bills OK'd by the Finance Committee be accepted and warrants drawn for various amounts. Motion carried. Unfinished Business Mayor Stevens reproted that he had interviewed Seattle Offficials on the water proposition. Also that he had looked up arterian wells. New Business Concering recommendations of Judge Durbin councilmember Klein seconded by Councilmember Kassner moved that the Police Chief and the Mayor be authorized to issue permits to any woman resident of Town of Tukwila, to carry revolvers and to use her discretion in this case of emergency until the power is revoked. Motion carried. Discussion of final instruction followed. Council then adjourned to meet on November 13, 1917. Joseph Hozack clerk
