HomeMy WebLinkAbout1916-10-10 Regular MinutesTukwila October 10, 1916 The 9th Council of the Town of Tukwila met in regular session in Lutz Hall on October 10, 1916. Mayor Stevens called the meeting to order. The following Councilmembers answered to their names: Kassner Klein Erickson and Myers. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. Councilmember Kassner Chairman of the Street Committee reported progress of the fill being made by Mr. Blankenship at the foot of Maule Street. He also reported that the fence line on Outlet Street was incorrect and suggested that Mr. Klein survey the same. councilmember Klein Chairman of the Finance Committee reported that the Goodfellow matter had been adjusted. No other reports from STanding Committees. Treasurer C.P. Jensen report read and ordered placed on file. Councilmember Kassner was given further time to have the road decided to the Town by Mr. Steigler surveyed and to see that it corresponded with the Deed. Mayor Stevens made a report on the Clarence Avenue matter. Motion by Kassner seconded by Klein was carried that the Clerk be instructed to write to parties who are willfully obstructing any part of Clarence Avenue or Rainier Avenue and to order the removal of all obstructions within 10 days and that the Marshall be given power to remove any obstructions found after that time. Mayor Stevens reported that James Wold offered the use of the property at the foot of Lummitt Avenue for three years gratis and at the end of that time he would sell the 20 foot right-of-way for $100.00 or 40 foot for $200.00 as Councilmember Hemmick was absent the matter was laid on the table to be brought up at the next regular meeting. A communication from Mr. Daniels in regards to drilling an arterial well was read and ordered placed on file. The finance committee OK'd all bills and the Clerk was authorized to issue warrants for the same. Councilmember Erickson moved that bids be called for and to be opened at the next regular meeting for the filling of Maule Avenue according to the ordinance motion was seconded by Councilmember Myers and on roll call. Councilmember Klein no Erickson yes Myers yes Kassner no Motion lost. A motion by Councilmember Klein seconded by Councilmember Myers that the Council accept the Frank McDonald bid of $290.00 for the construction of Main Street viaduct and that the clerk be instructed to draw up a contract between Mcdonald and the City for the work. On roll call the following vote: councilmembers klein yes Myers yes Erickson yes Kassner yes. On motion by Myers seconded by councilmember Erickson that the Council appropriate $30.00 to improve the Trail over Riverside Hill was lost by the following vote: Councilmember Myers yes Erickson yes Klein no Kassner no. A motion was put and carried that the Chairman of the Street Committee survey the Riverside Hill and bring in a full report of his findings at the next regular meeting. Meeting then adjourned to meet in regular session on November 14, 1916. Joseph Hozack Clerk
