HomeMy WebLinkAbout1915-12-04 Special MinutesHall Town Council Tukwila Washington December 4, 1915 Council met in special session and called to order by Mayor Stevens. Roll call showeel the following Officers present.Mayor S.H. Stevens ,Councilme•rl Kassner,Stewart and Klein,Counci men Walkup and Lutz being absent. Mayor Stevens addressed the Council and stated- the meeting was called for the purpose of introducing two Ordinances and two Resolutions. The, Clerk then read a communication from the PSE Railway (Puget Sound Electric).stating they were ready —to take up the matter for a crossing to open Main Street to the river at any time suitable to the people of Tukwila. On motion on of Councilman Klein a committee of three consiatin of B. H. Kassner,F. J..Kl ein and W.M. Cross were appointed by the Mayor to meet the Coounty Officials and arrange for the crossing.` !'he Mayor then introduced an Ordinance granting a franchise to the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. Councilman Stewart objected to the Ordinance as it was framed and made a motion that there be an amendment added granting free use of the poles to the Town of Tukwila for Street li ht wires or other wiree. Motion was lost by not receiving second. Councilman Stewart stated he had taken up the matter with Mr. Grant of the S.E. Company extending lights into Tukwila and Grant had stated he did think it would pay at the present time ,and there- was not much chance for the work being done at present. Councilman Stewart made motion which was carried that, the Ordinance be tabled till next meeting and a Committee be appointed to see Mr. Myers of the Telegraph Company and try and get better terms in regard to the use of the poles by the of Tukwila. The Mayor appointed Councilman Stewart and volunteered his own services to help him. Mayorr Stevens introduced a resolution in regard to having an Ordinance passed to make some changes in the Ordinance already passed for opening the Street from Clarence Avenue to Division Street. While this was under discussion Councilman Kassner was called home by the sudden illness of his wife and not being enough for a mortal remaining the Council adjourned to meet again sometime next week if it could be satisfactorily arranged.
