Council met in regular session and was called to order by Mayor
Stevens. Roll call shored the following Officers present.Mayor
S. H. Stevens,Co nclinen Kasner, Stewart and Lutz. Counci. =men Walkup
and Sandahl being absent.
Minutes of last regular meeting and of
special meeting held on Oct .4th. for making tax levy were read and
approved as read.
A communication from Councilman Sandahl was read
in which he sent in his resignation as Councilman. On motion of
Councilman Kasner the resignation was accepted.The Mayor
thereupon appointed Frank Klein as Councilman to succeed Council
-man Sandahi. On motion of Councilman Kassner the Mayor's appointee was accepted. qtr. Kl ein was then sworn in by Judge Durbin,
signed the Oath of Office and took his seat in the Council.
Communications.. communication from W.S. Lincoln Auditor for the
Port of Seattle was read stating there would be an election
of the Port Of Seattle held Dec.4th and that notice for the closing
of the Registration books must be given.
Mr.Peterson sent a communication to the Council asking tthem to have
Mr. R.H. Kassner
cut two fir trees on Mr. Stigler's property which was a menace
to a chicken house he was contemplating building. After some discussion it was decided Mr.Peterson had better take the matter up
with Mr. Stigler himself. Clerk read a communication from the
Campbell Electric Co. in which they stated they had
the automatic clock but had not agreed to repair it free of charge
On motion of Councilman Lutz.it was turned over to Councilman
Stewart for investigation and he to report at next meeting.
A communication from J.W. Gordon City Attorney of Auburn was read-in
answer to a communication about building of fires along the public
Highways and on vacant property ,in which he stated there was a
state law sufficient to cover such matters and they had never
taken any action in the mat ter. Oh motion of Councilman Lutz the
communication was placed on file. A communication and Bill for $4.00
from D.F. Wiiliams was read in which he stated he ,had not received
pay for serving Papers on Mr.Heinie in the disincorporation suit.
On motion of Councilman Kassner the report was turned over to
Councilman Lutz and he agreed to take the matter up with Attorney
Thomas and report at next meeting.
A communication from the Public Welfare League of Tukwila was
read in which they asked the Council to take up the matter of
opening up Main Street to the River. On motion of Councilman Lutz
a Special committee consisting of Councilmen,Kassner,Klein and Lutz
was appointed to investigate the advisibility of the work and
/report at next meeting.
The Mayor requested that the Light Committee
draw up plans and specifications for ten more lights, turn them
over to the Clerk and have hits advertise for bid` for the
installings of the lights,and the Mayor would call
a special meeting of the Council for the opening of said bids.
Poundmaster Stauffer reported that for the month of September he had
impounded and sold one sorrel horse for $3.00 and expense of
impounding and sale was $6.00 that he had impounded two cows belonging
to Mr.Leonard of Foster which was redeemed for $2.00,
also two yearling heifes belonging to Mrs. Coates for which he
received $5.00 He claimed the Town of Tukwila owed him a Bal.
of $3.00 on the sale of the horse. On motion of Counciinni Lutz
the claim was accepted and ordered paid
Treasurer made the following report for the month of Sep.

B.H.Kassner acting Street Superintendent he had completed the work ordered done
from Mrs. Myers place and found the following. Two wheel scrapers,
two slip scrapers,one Plow without beam gauge,two shovels,and one
axe with broken handle.he stated he thought there were more tools
and he was instructed to look into the matter and see if he could
find more. Three bids on the viaduct to be built on Tukwila a Avenue
was opened and read.One by Mr.Sanders in which he hid kI80.00
for a 5foot t=alk and $170:00 for a four foot walk. One by
Mr. McDonald in which he bid $162.77 for a five foot walk and
$152.60 for a four foot walk. One by Mr. Frost in which he bid 4145.00
for a five foot walk and $132.50 for a four walk.
Counoilman Kassner made a motion to accept Mr. Frost's bid. Carried.
On roll call Councilmen Kassner,Klein and Lutz voted to accept
and Councilman Stewart to rej ect. The Ordinance for the construc-
tion of the Viaduct was given the second reading and passed by
the Oouncil unanimously. Ordinance No 51
On complaints being made that there was bad-ruts
in the streets at various places ,Councilman Stewart made a motio
which was carried that there be $25.00 expended hauling gravel
to fill said ruts. mile Clerk was instructed to see former Offi cials
and if possible procure map showing the various grades of the
streets of Tukwila.On motion of Councilman Klein Mr.Frost was
given 30 days to build the viaduct.Mayor 'Stevens reported he had
investigated the proposed street to be opened from Clarence Avenue
to Division Street and that the only way was to condemn the property
for said street.
An Ordinance was introduced and read for the
proposed street. On motion of Councilman Stewart it was ?lid over
till next meeting.There being no further business to come befote
the house the Council stood adjourned.
