J.L. Durbin Supt. of lights reported there had been a saving
of $20.27 for the first six months of this year over the first
six months of last year..Treasurer reported for the month of
June as follows.Receipts T ;118.42 disbursements $74,31 Bal.
at end of month. 172.'70 Marshal Stauffer reported that during
the month of June he had t wo- COTS belonging to
Harlin Myers which was redeemed for $1.50 and two cows Vol ong±ng
to }fir. Stalks of roster which was redeemed for x .2.00
Clerk reported he had written letters to the teachers and
Principal of the school, Mr. and Mrs. Cott and Horticultural
Inspector N. Rhodes thanking therm in behalf of the Mayor and
Town Council for the active part taken on Caterpillar day.
The following Bills were read and on motion of Councilman Lutz
ordered paid. R.W. Stauffer Salary,? 5.00 J.L.Durbin salary and
work $14.00 Carolline Lutz Hall Rent $2.00 Mrs.E.A.Myers
Storage of tools 4.1.00 'l. Vin. Cross salary fir. 5.00
Puget Sound Electric Ry. $3.70 C. P- Jensen salary and Com. 24, 74
Unfinished business. An Ordinance prepared by Mayor Stevens
was presented to thb Council_cal ing for a :walk or Viaduct
to be built on Tukwila Ave. commencing at Rainier Ave. and
running rest 350 Ft. according to plans and specifications
in the hands of the Town Clerk.Mayor Stevens spoke_ in favor
of the Ordinance urging the Council to pass it at once
Councilman Stewart replied to the Mayor's argument and stated
he wished to go on record that he thought there had been enough
money spent on Engel Hill and he was not in fever of or the
Proposed Viaduct and was not in favor of spending more than
fifteen or twenty dollars to repair the old e -alk.

After Councilman Stewart expressed his views Mayor Stevens
asked to have the Ordinance laid over till next meet irk
Mayor Stevens also ,poke in regard to the Canada thistles
that were being allowed_ to ;brow in the streets and on private
property COUfC1lmaf Lutz also spoke on the thistle question
urging some action be taken to destroy them.
It was fimally decided to make Sunday July 18th. thistle day,and.
the Clerk 7 a s instructed to post notices to that effect and
request the citizens to cut the thistles on their on and
adjoining vacant property.It was also decided to hire a man
not to exceed three days to out thistles on the streets. Ordinance 56
The acting Street Supt.being absent the Council gave. Mayor
Stevens power to hire said work done.
The Clerk was instructed to write. the Puget Sound Electric
Railway and ash_ for a lock and hey for the freight house.
Councilman Lutz made motion that sidewalk Ordinance be laid
over till next meeting .Motion carried.
Mayor Stevens spoke about the law $f governing the building
of bondfires. Councilman Lutz was instructed tQ look the matter
up and report at next meeting.

There being no further business the Council adjourned to meet
