HomeMy WebLinkAbout1914-09-09 Regular MinutesTukwila September 9, 1914 The Regular Meeting of the Town Council was called to order at 8:35 PM by Mayor Hall. Councilmembers present were: Dave Williams E. Lutz E.F. Greene Minutes were read and corrections made. Report of Committee The Street Committee who were to meet Sunday September 7th to go over the projected improvements on Engel and Parker Hill and also the necessary repairs in other portions of the town by some misunderstanding did not meet and hence asked for mroe time. The Fire and Light Committee reported taht they have appointed J.L. Durbin to fill vacancy created by the resignation of Mr. John O. Wold under a temporary The following bills were signed by Finance Committee and ordered paid: Ed Lewis $16.00 J.L. Durbin $2.40 H.A. Stein $5.00 Caroline Lutz $2.00 Total for above $25.40 Communciation received in form of a complaint from Mrs. Walter C. Mitchell that her property is being used for pasture and that the street in front of her place is being closed up without her permission. The matter was turned over to J.L. Durbin for investigation. Unfinished Business The matter of additional lights was postponed until next meeting for the lack of information from Mr. Stewart who had the matter in charge. The Street Committee arranged to convene Sunday September 13th at 3 PM at Tukwila Avenue and Mainte Street for the purposes of going over all proposed road repairs and improvement. New Business Resolution read by Mr. Greene urging the Council to accept the loan of $700.00 offered by Mesers engel and Guist for the purpose of making the necessary improvements. Its adoption was postponed until the next meeting of the next council when the Clerk was ordered to summon Messers Engel and Guist to be preent. Mr. Greene presented figures showing where the Town could save money by hiring one man to fill the Offices of Street Superintendent, Light Superintendent, Marshall and Poundmaster at a stated salary per month. By a motion duly carried action upon that matter was postponed until next meeting and the Clerk was ordered to verify Mr. Greene's figures. Compalin has been received from Mrs. Berber that her children cannot get to school because of the deplorable condition of Division Street. A motion was made and carried that $20.00 be appropriated to make the necessary repairs. There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:45 PM to meet as an adjourned meeting. H.A.
