Confirm Council Revisions to Natural Environment Chapter and Continue
Review of Sensitive Areas Ordinance
ISSUE
The City is required by the Growth Management Act to adopt a Comprehensive Plan and
regulations that incorporate Best Available Science.
BACKGROUND
The Council reviewed proposed amendments to the Natural Environment Chapter of the City's
Comprehensive Plan at its meeting on October 25,2004 and began its review ofthe proposed
revisions to the City's regulations to incorporate BAS starting with the Sensitive Areas
Ordinance.
DISCUSSION
Staff received direction from the Council at its meeting on October 25,2004 on revisions to the
Natural Environment Chapter. The revisions to the Natural Environment Chapter have been
placed in the Council mail boxes Jor your review. The Council also began. its review of the
Planning Commission recommendedSAo and provided staff with direction on revisions and
identified issues to be discussed further on the Sensitive Areas Ordinance.
RECOMMENDATION
Staffhas the following recommendations:
I. Please review the revised. Comprehensive Plan chapters in your mail box to ensure that
they.reflect the changes Council requested. Please be prepared to direct staff on any
revisions that staff overlooked.
2. Continue review of the Planning Commission recommended Sensitive Areas Ordinance
and identify any additional issues on which the Council wants further briefing. Any new
issues will be combined with those identified on 10/25/04 and addressed in one briefing.
3. Consider setting up a stand alone meeting at which the Council would be presented with
information on the issues identified during review of the SAo.
