AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
ADDING ONE FULL TIME PATROL OFFICER II POSITION WITH-
IN THE CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT, ELIMINATING ONE POLICE
SERGEANT AND ONE POLICE LIEUTENANT POSITION WITHIN
THE DEPARTMENT IN FAVOR OF TWO ASSISTANT CHIEF POSI-
TIONS, AMENDING THE 1985 BUDGET ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE
NO. 1340 OF THE CITY, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO.
1346 TO REFLECT THE ADDITION AND REORGANIZATION.
WHEREAS, the 1985 Budget, as adopted by Ordinance No. 1340 of the
City and as amended by Ordinance No. 1346 provides for a total of two
Patrol Officer II positions within the Tukwila Police Department and further
provides for four Sergeants and one Lieutenant, and
WHEREAS, since the adoption of the 1985 budget, the Police
Department Management Review study has been completed, and
WHEREAS, the Police Department Management Review study recommends,
and the City Council concurs, that one full time Patrol Officer II posi-
tion should be added to the Police Department and that one Police Sergeant
and one Police Lieutenant position should be eliminated in favor of two
Assistant Chief positions, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that salary savings within
the Police Department budget and estimated ending fund balances in the current
fund are sufficient to fund the cost of the additional Patrol Officer II posi-
tion.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Addition of Patrol Officer II Position. One full
time Patrol Officer II position is hereby added to the Tukwila Police
Department.
Section 2. Assistant Chief Positions. One Police Sergeant and
one Police Lieutenant position are hereby eliminated from the Tukwila Police
Department in favor of two full time Assistant Chief positions. The
salaries and wages to be paid to the individuals holding these new positions
shall be the same as those paid to the individuals holding the positions eli-
minated.
Section 3. Budget Amended Finance Director Duties. The 1985
budget adopted by Ordinance No. 1340 of the City of Tukwila, passed by
the City Council on December 17, 1984, as amended by Ordinance No. 1346,
passed by the City Council on April 1, 1985, is hereby further amended to
reflect the addition of the Patrol Officer II position, the elimination of
the Police Sergeant and Lieutenant positions and the addition of the Assis-
tant Chief positions authorized by Sections 1 and 2 above. The Finance
Director is hereby authorized and instructed to effectuate the necessary
changes to the 1985 budget and to make all necessary and appropriate line
item entries and adjustments in order to reflect the amendments set forth in
this ordinance.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five (5) days after passage and publication as provided by law.
