HomeMy WebLinkAbout1908-06-29 New Council Minutes The first meeting of the new Coline,il was called to order by the mayor at 8�4 P. M- Those present were:- J. M. Hall E. F. Green j E. E. Lutz Councilrnon A. L. English W. R. Stewart Y C. P. Jensen- Treasurer After qualifying the newly elected Councilmen Mayor Hall read an address of welcome which was well taken. The following appointments were made by the Mayor and ratified by the Council H. A. Stein Clerk E. F. Green Police I±lapistrete Ed.Lewis (Reap.) Str.aup't. D. Williams Light Supt. E. E. Lutz Marshall Mr. Lutz appointed as his deputies:- D. Williams.mr. Wold, and all members of the C ounc il. Ordinance J39 was introduced. Same being an ordinance i to change meeting night by the Council from the second Tuesday night to the second Wednesday night in each month except the first meeting. in the year which will remain as heretofore. Same was carried u- nanimously. Emergency existing -in this respect, a motion was made by E.E.Lutz and seconded by W. H. Stewart that this ordinance become' rte` o,,,bA a law after the first readin and c the clerk was ordered to act ac- cordingly. Com. read from State Health Department that we appoint Health Officer in this town. By motion moved and carried. Same was referred to committee on Laws and Order. Com. read from Columbia Engineering Works, who have a light chemical engine for sale. By a motion moved and carried that �e matter be referred to committee on Fire and Light and hater aryl ~k was instructed to advise the Engineering Company to that effect Financial report of Treasurer and Clerk read and the matter of appointing a committ" to g© over the books was dis- cussed.-but gin e the State Auditor is due soon, it was decided to hear his report.
