April 8th, 1913.
Tukwila, `.Washington.
The regular meeting; of the Town Council was held on the
abo date, being called to order by the Mayor at the hour of
8 :20 .P .Ii.
There were present:
J. ?:i. Hall, lilayor.
Engle,
D. F. Lutz,
L' IT. Sandahl
D. r'. Williams and
J. J. Terry, Councilmen.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Reports of Committees:,
Fire and Light; ?o Report
Y Stree and Alleys jr. Terry reported that the lumber for
repairing sidewalks and crossings had
arrived, but lacked some of being suf-
ficient to complete the work. Ile also
reported that the railing near Idr.
Kingsley's residence ."!as broker_ and
should be repaired. He also recommended
the purchase of 500 additional feet of
lur .iber for repairing sidewalk near Mr.
1 .7old's residence, and to complete repairs
now under gray. He also suggested that
the St. Superintendent survey these needed
repairs and ascertain just how much lumber
is needed, 'J-on motion made and carried
this report and the suggestions were
accepted and Mr. Terry instructed to
purchase 1000 feet additional to carry
out these repairs, the balance to be kept
for emergency needs.
The Committee appointed to report on the
vacation of Ritz Avenue were not prepared
to report and were :given more time.
Mr. Dollar complained to the Council that the culvert in front
of Iur. Hopkins' residence was bad condition; St. Superin-
tendent ordered to'repor`t` next meeting,
After some discussion as to the condition of l,ngle Hill, a
motion to refer same to Street Committee was carried.
Tarim Property: Ex. Lutz asked for more time in regard to
K the proposed Locker for Town papers.
Granted.
Sewers and Drainage:Ilo Report.
The following Bills were read, approved and warrants ordered
drawn in their payment: Orillia Lbr. Co. 1 -6.12; Greene Greene
6.60; B.F.Greene, 5.00; C.P.Jensen, 5.75; Sam I- Ayers, 6.00;
R.H.Ka.ssner, 10.00; Furs. Lutz, 2.00; D.Wtauffer, 1.50;
�'re. S.I -Ayers, 2.40; P.S.E.Ry,Co., 11.69 Total- d'67.06.
Communipa.tions read and placed on File. Treasurer's
report for lb t quarter of 1913, read, accepted and placed on
file.
n Petition to oiler_ and improve First Avenue was red.d and
referred to Street Committee witr� inatructions to report.
Unfinished Business: Street Superintendent reports in substance
that the principal cause of the wet and
unsanitary condition of a portion of the
low lying land in the North section of the
Town is the fact that the Railroad Company's
culvert under the right -of -way is higher
than the land in question, and gave it as
his opinion that the only adequate remedy
is to change the level of said culvert.
After some discussion a motion made
and carried that the St. Superintendent
make further investigation and report at
next meeting.
No further development in the matter of a side track.
In regard to themovement for disincorporation of the Town of
Tukwila, the following; Resolution, which appears on page No.
53 of this Minute Book, and is hereby made a part of these
Minutes, was read and adopted, adding to said Resolutionthe
words, "ouch amount as the Mayor may find necessary".
New Business:
:.qtr. Williams reported that an Tlectric Time Switch for the
regulation of the amount of current consumed by the Town
Lighting 5yetem would be a good investment. After some
discussion as to the merits of various models motion was
made and carried that Mr. Williams be instructed to purchase
one to cost $20.40.
There being no further business to come before the
Council, meeting adjourned at the hour of.9:15 P.M.
