Tukwila, Washington, January, 14th,1913.
The first meeting of the New Council was called to order
by the Clerk at the hour of 9:=35 P.I?. The 'Oath of Office
;s ad ta' Mayor J. IA. Ball, who then took the Chair.
There were present:
J.M. Hall, Mayor,
E.W. Engel,
J.J. Terry,
E. N. Sandahl and
D.F. Williams, Councilmen,
C.P. Jensen, Treasurer.
The% first order of business was the qualification of the
newly elected Councilmen, 11. W. Engel, J. J. 'terry and L.Y.Sandhhl
and the newly elected Treasurer, C. P. Jensen.
The Treasurer's Bond was presented and accepted by the
Council.
It was ordered that Bonds be procured for the Clerk, Police
Magistrate and Marshal.-
The DIa.yor appointed 'B. F. Greene as Clerk, R. H. Kassner as
Marshal, and E.. F. Greene as Police Magistrate. `these appoint-
ments .vere immediately ratified by the Council.
the appointment of a Street Superintendent ti;ias postponed
until next meeting of the Council.
After some discussion a motion was made that 111.W.J ngel
-fill the short term as Councilman. Carried.
Mayor appointed the following Committees:
Fire, Light and ':rater: ,Williams; Lutz and Terry.
Streets, Sidewalks and Culverts: Terry,Sar_dahl and Engel.
Laws and Ordinances: Engel, Lutz and Sa.ndslal.
Auditing and Finances: Sa.ndahl, "Itilliams and Terry.
Railroad and Transportation: Lutz, `Engel and I..illiams.
Parks, Playgrounds and Cemeteries: Sandal^:l, `tilliams &Terry
Sanitation and Health: Jillia.ms, Lutz and Engel.
Building, 1 Surveying: Terry,Sandalil Williams
Elections Public Property Lutz, "ngel 'Terry.
Sewer,Drainage and Wa.terways:ingel, Lutz and Terry.
Mayor recommended that a Locker be built and installed for
"the safe keeping of Pavers and Books of` value of the 'Torun.
Clerk was instructed by the Council to Tpoint a Deputy
Registration Clerk
The question of clearing the sidewalks of snow Referred
to Street Committee with rower to act.
The Street Connittee were also empowered to purchase 10
plank 16 ft. long for Str..._t crossings and 1000 ft. of 2 x 12
14 ft. long; fo-^ sidewalk=
There being no further business to transact, the meeting
was adjourned at 10 P.M.
