PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Public Works services provided in our community are an
integral part of the daily lives of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, the efficient and effective provision of these services greatly en-
hances the health, safety, and welfare of our community; and
WHEREAS, quality and effectiveness in the design and construction of pub-
lic facilities and in the provision of public services is vitally dependent on the
knowledge, skills, and dedication of the Public Works staff and officials in the
City of Tukwila; and
WHEREAS, the support of the community and the understanding of the
importance of the work performed by Public Works staff materially influences
their ability to respond to the needs of the citizens;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Steven M. Mullet, Mayor of the City of Tukwila, do
hereby proclaim May 18 through May 24, 2003, with this year's theme "The
Strength of Public Works," as
National Public Works Week
in the City of Tukwila, and I invite all citizens and civic organizations to acquaint
themselves with the challenges confronted in the daily provision of public works
services in our community and to recognize the daily contributions our Public
Works Department staff make to our health, safety and quality of life.
