A copy of Resolution 1475 is attached for your review. While the body of the Resolution states that benefits will be extended to "employees' dependents while the employee is on active duty...", the Title of the Resolution specifies that the extension of these benefits is granted to those personnel activated "due to the results of the New York and Washington D.C. tragedies". While some of our personnel may continue to be activated under the auspices of Operation Enduring Freedom, indications are that most of the anticipated activations will be in support of the impending Iraqi conflict. It is our recommendation that for the sake of clarity, a separate Resolution be crafted to cover those employees that might be activated for reasons other than those associated with response to 9-11. To that end, a draft Resolution is attached that accomplishes that, and in a manner that establishes the extension of benefits as a matter of policy for all future activations. -~ :: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, PROVIDING EXTENDED MEDICAL, DENTAL AND VISION COVERAGE FOR EMPLOYEES' DEPENDENTS AS A RESULT OF CITY EMPLOYEES BEING ' :-: CALLED FOR ACTIVE DUTY IN THE UNI'I'~I.)
