Looking to the future and acknowledging a definite need for increased revenues, Mayor Mullet noted several things might be done internally to raise those fees. Utility taxes and B 0 taxes were just two of the items mentioned. Also mentioned were negotiations with Seattle City Light for Interlocal agreements; potential for taking over a part of Water District #125 and Val Vue to levy utility taxes if they are not in favor of same; and it was noted the City will not create a municipal park district as has been rumored. Alan Doerschel, Finance Director, presented written materials and reviewed them with Council as it relates to the City's Financial Planning Model update. These materials include proposed revenue enhancements and available options to the City. Mr. Doerschel, Council and City staff discussed the information provided. Various scenarios were discussed and different ideas were presented. In the end, it was agreed that City staff will continue to gather information, update figures, plan another update (August, 2002), and ultimately create a new ordinance by the end of 2002, outlining the City's desires to increase fees and identify which of those can be raised. 6:49 p.m. Mayor Mullet adjourned the budget workshop.
