HomeMy WebLinkAbout1915-04-27 Adjourned Minutes1Tukwila Wash, April 27, 1915 Council met in adjourned session and was called to order by Mayor Stevens. Roll call showed the following Officers present. Mayor S.H. Stevens Councilmembers Walkup Stewart and Ives. Oouncilmembers Sandahl and Lutz being absent ,but Councilmember Sandahl arrived a few minutes later. The Ordinance granting a Franchise for the New Highway was called for and read On motion of Councilmember Walkup the reading was accepted and the Ordinance ordered passed to the second reading; at next regular meeting of Council. Mayor Stevens addressed the Council in which. he stated he had spoken to the Officials in regard to making approaches to crossing and sidewalks, but they had informed him that they would do nothing whatever in regard to such things. Councilmember Walkup as Acting Street Superintendent presented his report together with specifications for sidewalk at the Engel Hill. A discussion arose as to whether the sidewalks should be of split cedar or sawed cedar. Also whether the sidewalk should be 4 feet. wide or 5 Feet wide. After much discussion it was decided to let the successful bidder use either split or sawed cedar but it must not be less than 10 inches side and 6 Inches thick. It was also decided to have the bids for both a 4 Ft. and 5 Ft. walk. Motion made and carried to accept the report and specifications On motion of Councilmember Walkup the Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for the sidewalk with the amendments as proposed. Counc l aa:z IValku-p also subrl -i fo? o "ri n^' report In the matter of acquiring right-of-way from Clarence Avenue to Division Street that the residents of McElroy Addition may have access to the school, Church and Post Office without trespassing on private property a condition they have long endured your committee secured an offer from Mr. and Mrs. Stewart owners of Lot 4 of a strip of land 40 feet wide along the west end of Lot 4 extending from Clarence Avenue to the north line of Lot 5 owned by Albert Pomgreen approximately 320 Feet Those agreeing to deliver to the Town of Tukwila a guarantee deed of the same for a consideration of $175.00. Mr.Pomgreen agreeing to deliver a like deed for 40 Ft. across Lot 5 to the north line of Lot 6,and 15 Ft. along the south line to Division Street for a consideration of $85.00 Mr. Ericson agreeing to deliver to the Town a like deed to 15 ft. along the north line of Lot 6 to Division Street for a consideration of $1.00 Messers .Stewart ,Pomgreen,and Ericson further agree that should your honorable body accept the above proposition to give immediate possession of the above mentioned property,that construction of a passable ma be begun at once. Your Committee estimates that an expenditure of $250.00 would build a substantial road over this route. Signed, John R.Walkup Eugene N. Sandahl Councilmember Sandahi made motion to adopt this report On roll call it was adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council. The Dog License Ordinance came up for discussion, but the Council refused to enforce the Ordinance or to take any action in the matter whatever. Clerk reported that on investigation of Stein's Bond he found Stein had given a bond for $1000.00 and was compelled to pay $5.00 premium. On motion the report was ordered placed on file. A communication from the Puget Sound Electric Railway (PSE) was read in regard to last bill for current furnished for light.The bill was accepted and ordered paid. Councilmember Walkup reported the Puget Sound Electric Railway Co. had installed two lights at Black River. On motion the Clerk was instructed to write them thanking them for their prompt action in the mate AS was no further business the counciled adjourned. W.M. Cross Clerk
