BACKGROUND The City of Tukwila acquired the Duwamish Gardens site in December 2008 for future development into an off- channel habitat restoration site. The 2.16 -acre property has 500 feet of river frontage and is on the right bank of the Duwamish River immediately downstream of East Marginal Way South. The site is in the high priority "transition zone" between fresh and salt water. Staff is currently working to clear the site of all structures and secure funding for the design phase of this project. ANALYSIS Various granting agencies have design funds available for this project. Each of these grant sources require different applications, submittal dates, and matching fund requirements. If the City is successful in obtaining funding for project design, some City matching funds may be required prior to acceptance of the grants. RECOMMENDATION Approve submittal of grant applications deemed competitive to various granting sources for design funding for this project.
