Meeting Minutes
September 27, 2010 5:00 p.m.; Conference Room #3
PRESENT
Councilmembers: Joe Duffie, Chair; Joan Hernandez and Verna Seal
Staff: Jack Pace, Nora Gierfloff and Joyce Trantina
Guests: Chuck Parrish and Sharon Kidd
CALL TO ORDER: Committee Chair Duffie called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
I. PRESENTATIONS

II. BUSINESS AGENDA
A. Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Code Amendments
Staff is requesting that this issue be moved to Planning Commission for further discussion and review.
Staff explained further that as the technology of electric vehicles evolves, the State is analyzing key
corridors for infrastructure that will support the use of electric vehicles.
Staff further explained that Seattle and a few other areas are test sites for the newer electric car models
which will have a larger power supply, and be more traditional looking. The new models will have the
ability to travel at higher speeds (up to 70 mph and higher) and provide commuters with less expensive
alternatives. In order for this to be feasible, municipalities will need to address location, cost and other
factors associated with charging stations.
Staff recommends that the Community Affairs and Parks Committee forward this item to the Planning
Commission for review. Staff will then return to the Committee with the Planning Commission's
recommendations and using the State model and Tukwila's own regulations, propose a draft ordinance.
UNANIMOUS APPROVAL. FORWARD TO PLANNING COMMISSION FOR REVIEW.
