Horizontal Load testing of CR Laurence 48 by 42 inch Glass Balustrade Assembly
Goatlemea:
As you requested, we have co>Uapletod the testing of the CR. Laurence (CRL) 4g inch by 42
inch Glass Balustrade assembly. Rased ou a design load consisting of a concentrated
- horiz=tal force of 200 pounds, the loadings in our testing progtanx ofthe CRL assembties
are 2.5 to 4.1 times the design caritcria. '
The assmblies tested included both % and % inch tempered glast, mounted in multiple
CRL base shoe profiles. In CMOs report Igo. B2626 -A, of Februaryl8, 2004, we describe -
our besting proga= where subjected a number of OWs glass balustrade, 48 'by 42. inch
assmblies, to a concentrated horizontal loading applied to the upper corner of the glass..
The glass mounting systems to the shoes included both wet set systems sad CRTs
GlwWedge System. The aluminum shoes were mounted to the test facility floor usizag
tl = methods. These tbree methods included direct mounting with recessed anchor bolts,
mounting on' 1%2 -inch thick steel plates, and side mounting-to 3 -% XB %: by V, inch angle
iron
Wa .applied acid held a concentrated horizontal load to the upper corner of the tempered
glass (both y: and Y., inch thiclmess) of the 48-inch wide by 42 -inch high CR Laur t=
Glass Balustrade Assemblies. Depending on the assembly details the horizontal loads
maintained for two minutes ranged from* S00 pounds with. thrco 3 -%s inch wide CRL'.

In reviewing our current records the above noted permit has not received a final inspection by the City of Tukwila Building Division.
Per the International Building Code and/or the International Mechanical Code, every permit issued by the Building Division under the
provisions of this code shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the building or work authorized by such permit is not
commenced within 180 days from the date of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or
abandoned at any time after the work is commenced for a period of 180 days.
Based on the above, you are hereby advised to:
Call the City. of Tukwila Permit Center at 206 - 431 -3670 to arrange for the next or final inspection.
This inspection is intended to determine if substantial work has been accomplished since: issuance of the. permit or last inspection; or if
the project should be considered abandoned.
If such determination is made, the Building Code does allow the Building Official to approve a one -dine extension up to 180 days.
�. Extension requests must be in wLi:ft and provide satisfactory reasons why circumstances beyond the applicants control have
prevented action from being taken.
In the event you do not call for the above inspection and receive an extension prior to 10/10/2005, your permit will become null and
