Analysis The existing tower was analyzed using Semaan Engineering Solutions, Inc., Software. The analysis assumes that the tower is in good, undamaged, and non - corroded condition. I j The maximum structure usage is: 83.1% Additional exit and/or entry ports may be required to accommodate the running of the proposed transmission lines to the proposed antennas. These ports, if required, may be sourced as "kits" _j from the ori ginal monopole manufacturer. They should be installed per the manufacturer's instructions furnished with the port materials. These additional ports, when properly installed replace the material removed by the cutting of holes in the monopole structure so no additional I engineering calculations are required. The foundation has been investigated using the supplied documents and soils report and was found adequate. Therefore, the foundation will not require modification. Connect the sweep generator with test cable /connector into the GPS 1 coax line at the top of the EBTS Controller rack. b. Connect a coaxial short to the end of the GPS 1 Antenna coax line. Measure and plot the return loss in dB. c. Calculate the Insertion Loss by dividing the "average return loss" by two. The "average return loss" is calculated by averaging at least five of the lowest return loss values with at least five of the highest return loss values. The Insertion Loss should be less than or equal to 3.0 dB. Record the Insertion Loss value for GPS 1 antenna on the Antenna Specification Sheet. Also record the Cable Length of the GPS 1 antenna coax line on the Antenna Specification Sheet. d. Connect a coaxial 50 -ohm load to the end of the GPS 1 antenna coax line. Measure and plot the return loss in dB. Also plot the return loss VSWR. e. The highest return loss value from the plot is the Return Loss and the highest VSWR value from the plot is the VSWR. Record the Return Loss, VSWR and the associated Frequency on the Antenna Specification Sheet. The Return Loss value should be less than or equal to - 20.83 dB and the VSWR value should be less than or equal to 1:2:1. f. Repeat steps la through le for GPS 2 antenna. NOTE: If the Return Loss or VSWR values do not meet the - 20.83 dB or 1:2:1 respective requirements then there is a problem in the coax line, poly phasor or connectors. Troubleshoot and fix the source of the mismatch (defective connector / connection, defective poly phasor or defective /damaged coax line). If the Insertion Loss values do not meet the 3.0 dB requirement then there is a problem in the coax line, poly phasor or connectors. Troubleshoot and fix the source of the excessive loss. If the excessive loss is due to the coax line being too long, report this problem to Nextel Construction. 2. BMR Antenna Sweep Tests NOTE: The sweep test is run in two parts. The first part is a sweep test of the coax lines, connectors and lightning arrester (poly phasor) without the BMR antenna connected. This is called the "Coax Line" test. The second part is a sweep test with the BMR antenna connected. This test is called the "System" test. The BMR antenna coax line is marked with a white band of tape. a. Set up the sweep generator to sweep from 800 to 900 MHz. Calibrate any test cables and connectors. Connect the sweep generator with the test cable /connector into the BMR coax line at the top of the EBTS Controller rack. b. Connect a coaxial short to the end of the BMR Antenna jumper coax line.
