BONDING AINESIVE
DESCRIPTION:
Firestone UltraPly TPO Bonding Adhesive is a buytl based
contact adhesive designed specifically for bonding Firestone
UltraPly TPO membrane to approved insulations in addition to
wood, metal, masonry and other acceptable substrates.
METHOD OF APPLICATION:
1. Surfaces that will recieve Firestone UltraPly TPO
Bonding Adhesive must be clean, smooth, dry, free of sharp
edges, loose and foreign materials, oil, grease, and other
contaminants.
2. Stir the adhesive thoroughly (to achieve a uniform mix
with no sediment on the bottom and no marbling evident)
before and during use. Apply Bonding Adhesive at about the
same time to both the exposed underside of the sheet and
the substrate to which it will be adhered so as to allow
approximately the same drying time. Apply Bonding Adhesive
evenly so as to avoid globs. Apply the Bonding Adhesive
with a solvent resistant paint roller, and roll the adhesive onto
the mating surfaces. When applying Bonding Adhesive,
ensure complete uniform coverage of both mating surfaces to
be adhered. Care must be taken not to apply Bonding
Adhesive over seam areas.
3. Allow Bonding Adhesive to flash off until tacky. Touch
down on the Bonding Adhesive surface with a clean,
dry finger to be certain that the adhesive does not
string. As you are touching the adhesive, pushing
straight down to check for stringing, also push forward
on the adhesive at an angle to ensure that the adhesive
solvents have flashed off and is ready throughout its
thickness. If either motion exposes wet areas or sticking
when the finger is lifted, then it is not ready for mating.
Flash off time will vary depending on ambient conditions.
4. Starting at the fold, roll the previously coated portion of
the sheet into the coated substrate slowly and evenly so
as to minimize wrinkles. To ensure proper contact,
compress the bonded half of the sheet to the
substrate with a stiff push broom using heavy pressure
immediately after mating. Alternatively, a heavy roller
can be utilized to ensure proper contact of membrane to
substrate.

1. A coverage rate of 45 -60 square feet per gallon may be
obtained depending on the substrate. Some insulation
surfaces are more uneven and porous and will result in
a lower coverage rate while smooth non porous sub
strates will result in higher coverage rates. Rates are
based on roller application to both mating surfaces.
2. Very porous substrates (rough wood, concrete block)
may require two coats of Bonding Adhesive, to ensure
proper adhesion. This can be determined by testing a
small area. Check by adhering a small piece of UltraPly
membrane to the porous substrate to verify the bonding
strength.
SHELF LIFE:
1. Shelf life of one year can be expected if stored in
original sealed container at temperatures between
60 °F and 80 °F ( 16 0 C- 27 0 C). If exposed to lower tempera
tures, restore to room temperature prior to use.
2. Shelf life will be shortened if exposed to elevated

and are specifically designed to be used in roofing applica-
tions for flashing inside and outside corners on curbs,
' parapets and scuppers. TPO corners come in groups of 4
inside /outside corner pieces which must be cut individually
for specific application.
d
' METHOD OF APPLICATION:
1. Work area should be clean of prior flashings or foreign
material. Cut the corner out of corner block and round
j off all corners prior to heat welding into place per
j current Firestone UltraPly TPO Specifications. Care
should be given during the heat welding process in
order to prevent heat build up that could burn or dam
age the TPO molded corner.
i PRECAUTIONARY DATA:
1. Refer to Material Safety Data Sheets for all applicable
components of the Firestone UltraPly TPO System.

UltraPly TPO
WALKWAY PAD
DESCRIPTION:
Firestone UltraPly TPO Walkway Material is composed of 100%
recycled thermoplastic materials and processes into 50 -foot long
rolls. Each walkway roll has been produced with low profile anti —
slip skid design to improve slip resistant when walked on.
UltraPly TPO Walkway Material can be installed to the UltraPly
TPO roofing membrane with adhesives or it can be heat welded
directly to TPO membrane with the appropriate heat welding
equipment. UltraPly TPO Walkways are required in areas where
necessary rooftop traffic will occur and will help protect the
roofing system from unnecessary damage. It is the building
owner's responsibility to maintain the walkway system in the
following designated areas.
raw; 1. At all access points (ladders, hatches, doorways, etc.) to the
? roof.
2. As a walkway system on roofs subjected to traffic more
frequently than once per month.
METHOD OF APPLICATION:
1. Place the UltraPly TPO Walkway material over the TPO
Roofing System with the pattern side up. Cut the
material into lengths that can be easily handled.
j 2. Heat weld the perimeters of each TPO Walkway Pad
section to the UltraPly TPO roof membrane using
1 techniques similar to splicing of the UltraPly TPO Roofing
System membrane panels. As an alternate attachment
method, the UltraPly TPO Walkway Pad may be adhered
j using Firestone UltraPly TPO Bonding Adhesive.
3. Special attention must be given when welding occurs
over roof membrane seams, to assure that a proper
? weld is achieved, and no damage to the membrane
seams occurs.
