Meeting Minutes

PRESENT
Councilmembers: Dennis Robertson (filling in for Verna Seal), Acting Chair; Joan Hernandez and De' Sean Quinn
Staff: Bob Giberson, Frank Iriarte, Cyndy Knighton and Kimberly Matej
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 5:02 p.m.

II. BUSINESS AGENDA
A. Tukwila Transit Center: WSDOT Regional Mobility Grant Approval
Staff is seeking Committee approval to submit a grant application for the Tukwila Transit Center through
the Washington State Department of Transportation Regional Mobility Grant Program.
Staff has submitted a number of grant applications for this project in the past several years, to no avail;
however, applications have always been deemed as competitive. The grant application, which is due
October 7, 2010, would request $4,735,000 in funding for construction of the entire Transit Center project.
If no other funding is identified and the City's application is successful, all but $600,000 of the required
20% City -match ($1,481,000) would be accounted for through existing funds, grants, salaries, etc. The
$600,000 is currently reserved in the CIP (pg. 20) in the beyond column and would be required to be made
available no later than 2015. This funding could be met through securing other grant opportunities.
Committee members identified potential concerns involved with other projects that may be planned for the
arterial street fund, but also recognize the priority of this project. UNANIMOUS COMMITTEE
APPROVAL. STAFF WILL SUBMIT GRANT.
