By this theory, the load at the top of the pipe caused by a superimposed static load is evaluated as: 3 a P- Where: W = Superimposed surface load, pounds. Z = Vertical distance from the point of load to the top of the pipe, feet. R - Straight line distance from point of load to the top of the pipe, feet. R =VXJ +Yj +Zr X and Y = Horizontal distances at 90° to each other from point of load to the top of the pipe, feet. Using this theory, a simplified chart can be used to show the underground pressure distribution caused by a 1000 Ib. superimposed surface load (Chart 28), The underground pressure for other superimposed surface Toads can be calculated by multiplying the chart value by the load ratio per the example on Chart 2B, page 43. If the pressure on the pipe is caused by a uriiformty distributed surface load (as opposed to a point load) such as a foundation, spread fooling or bearing pad, the soil pressure on the pipe due to this uniform load can be; determined by dividing the loaded area into a group of smaller individual areas so that each small area essentially becomes a point load. Then calculate the load for each incremental area and add the results to obtain the total soil pressure on the pipe FAX NO. -- P. 08 SySte s' 4eSl6A' AfAriti+t, t Z =7' 1 caused by the f dation as a whole. Traffic operating over buried pipelines (or even near a pipeline) causes the earth to move slightly under its weight. This ever so slight movement is a dynamic Toad transfer from the vehicle into the ground. Although this might be considered a short -term loading, there will be those instances where the plant truck will be parked near the pipeline or the field tractor may end a day's work and shut down over the pipe or the train could end its travels over the pipeline. Where live loads are expected from traffic, rolling equipment, vibrations from operating machinery and impact, the following procedure and charts will provide for design of the required performance into those sections of the pipeline. Live loads are also evaluated by the Boussinesq theory, the same as superimposed static Toads. This evaluation report recognizes the use of HIT HY -150 in nor- mal-weight concrete, lightweight concrete and fully- grouted, concrete masonry construction. Table 1 provides general ap- plication descriptions for use of the Hltti HY -150 adhesive. 22 Materials: 2.2.1 Hilti HIT HY-150 Adhesive: l ilti HITHY -150 adhesive Is a hybrid adhesive mortar combining urethane methacrylate resin, hardener, portland cement. and water. The resin and cement are kept separate from the hardener and water by means of a dual-cylinder foli cartridge that allows for multiple uses. An auger -style mixing nozzle Is attached tothemanifold and the adhesive components are dispensed through the mbdng nozzle to ensure proper mbdng of the separate adhe- sive components. The mixing nozzle may be replaced to per- mit multiple uses of the refill cartridges. The shelf life of the adheslvels atleastnlne months when stored In a dry, dark en- vironment. Each cartridge is stamped with an adhesive expi- ration date. Temperatures during short-term (less than 48 hours) storage of the adhesive must be between 23 °F and 95 °F (-5 °C and 35 °C). Temperatures during long -teen stor- age of the adhestvemust bebetween 41°F and 70 °F (5 °C and 25 °C). Hlltl. Inc.. should be contacted regarding suitability of adhesive for which the storage history Is unknown. 2.2.2 Threaded Steel Rods: Threaded rods must be manufactured from steel in compliance with the mechanical property requirements of ASTM A 36: ASTM A 193, Grade B7: or AISI 304-5S, Group 1 CW. The special In- spector must record product description (including product name), adhesive expiration date. concrete type and strength, anchor diameter and steel grade, compliance of drill bit with this report. hole diameter and location. cleanliness of hole and anchor, adhesive application, and anchor embedment Additionally, the special Inspector must state In the report supplied to the building department whether the anchor Installation Is In accordance with the manufacturer's pub- lished Instructions and this evaluation report. The manufac- turer'sinstructions are included In each unit pedroge of adhe- sive. 2.6 Identification: The'HIltl HY -150 adhesive Is Identified by labels on or in the packaging indicating the manufacturer's name (Hilts), product name. lot number, expiration date. evaluation report number (ICBO ES ER -5193). and installation instructions. 3.0 EVIDENCE SUBMITTED Data In accordance with the ICBO ES Acceptance Criteria for Adhesive Anchors in Concrete and Masonry Elements (AC58). dated January 1999. 4.0 FINDINGS That the Hilti HY -150 Adhesive Anchor Systems de- scribed in this report comply with the 1997 Uniform Building Code"', subject to the following conditions: 4.1 The HIT HY -150 Adhesive Anchor Systems are per- mitted to be used to resist dead Toads, live loads and short-term Toads, such as those resulting from wind or earthquake forces. 4.2 Loads in this report are permitted to be increased by 33 percent for short-tern loads, such as those resulting from wind and earthquake forces. 4.3 When anchors resist short-tern loads, allowable shear loads are limited to thetabulated steel values for A 36 threaded rods, regardless of the actual type of steel, or the tabulated bond strength, which- ever is less. An increase of 33 percent Is per- mitted. 4.4 The anchors are Installed In accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and this report 4.5 The HIT HY -150 Adhesive Anchor Systems are installed in holes predriiled using a carbide- tipped masonry drill bit manufactured within the range of the maximum and minimum dimensions of ANSI B212.15 -1994. 4.6 Special Inspection accordance with Section 2.5 of this report is provided for all anchor installa- tions. 4.7 Calculations and details demonstrating com- pliance with this report must be submitted to the lo- cal building official for approvaL 4.8 The HIT HY -150 Adhesive Anchor Systems are per- mitted to be used within fin- resistive construction, - >206 4 43 0700 Page 3 'of 8 • r;• provided the anchors resist wind or seismic loads only. In this application, the anchors are not per- mitted to be used to resist gravity loads. Where special consideration has been given to fire condi- tions, use of the HIT HY -150 Adhesive Anchor Sys- tems Is permitted to resist gravity loads. 4.9 The HIT HY -150 Adhesive Anchor Systems are not permitted to resist tension forces in overhead or well installations unless proper consideration Is given to the fire exposure and elevated tempera- ture conditions. 4.10 Due to the lack of an accepted test method and pro- cedure for evaluating data to determine the perfor- mance of adhesive anchors subjected to fatigue and/or'shock loading, the use of the HIT HY -150 Adhesive Anchor Systems to resist fatigue and/or shock loading, such as encountered by supports for reciprocating engines, crane Toads and moving loads due to vehicles, Is beyond the scope of this report. 4.11 Due to the lack of an accepted test method foreval- uating the performance of anchors in cracked con- crete, use of the HIT HY -150 Adhesive AnchorSys- tems In cracked concrete Is beyond the scope of this report Concrete Is assumed to be cracked when the tensile stress Induced by external loads or deformations exceeds 170 psi (1172 kPa). 4.12 Use of the HIT HY -150 Adhesive Anchor System in conjunction with unprotected carbon steel threaded rods and/or reinforcing bars shall be lim- ited to Interior exposure. Installations exposed to severe, moderate or negligible exterior weathering conditions, as defined In Figure 21 -1 -1 of UBC Standard 21 -1, are permitted where stainless steel anchors ere used. 4.13 Standing water must be removed from drilled holes. In applications where the concrete has been exposed to water for extended periods, drilled holes must be blown dry with oll -free compressed airfor a minimum of one minute, or otherwise pre- pared to achieve an equivalent dry-surface condi- tion prior to anchor installation. • 4.14 HIT HY -150 may be used in base materials having Interior temperatures between 23•F (-VC) and 110•F (43•C) at the time of installation. Installation of HITHY -150In base materials having Interiortem- peratures outsidethis range is beyond the scope of this report. The temperature of the HY -150 adhe- sive must be between 41•F (5't) and 95 °F (35 °C) at the time of Installation. 4.15' When anchors are located where the interior base material temperature may exceed 110•F (43•C), al- lowable tension loads In this report must be ad- justed• for in- service temperatures in accordance with Figure 1. The use of HIT HY -150 In base materi- als having interior temperatures exceeding 248'F (120•C) during their service life is beyond the scope of thjs report 4.16 The HIT HY -150 adhesive is manufactured by Hilts GmbH at theirfaclilties In Kaufering, Germany, with quality control inspections by Underwriters Labo- ratories Inc. (NER-0A403). The City of Tukwila has expressed concems regarding proximity of the installation to a 10 -inch fire main. At this time, PACCAR requests the permit be issued with the following considerations: • Paccar accepts all future maintenance and repair responsibilities of the pipe related t tank installation. • The 10 -inch fire main is shown on the site plan drawing as submitted to the City of Tukwila Public Works Department. The structural details of the pads are shown on the submitted stamped drawings 10693 -C1. • The stamped soil load calculations for the new tank indicates that there will be no ad erse affects to the existing buried 10 -inch private fire main. The pipe centerline depth w located at about 67 inches below the existing slab. See the attached load calculations.
