As is standard policy my permit is nearing its 6 month expiration. The project was last inspected on August 31, 2005 with an expiration date at the end of February. I request that this expiration date be extended. Due to circumstances beyond my control, the building project started much later than expected. An illness in the family and other personal factors did not allow for completion. As a result of such delays, I was unable to pour the foundation until early September. Grading was not completed until early October. This left me in the difficult position of building my shop during the rainy season. This would have reduced jobsite safety, and the building's quality of construction. In addition as an intern architect, I am aware of the possibility of releasing fine sediment into the local watershed through winter time muddy construction activity. As a result of these factors, I chose to delay the remainder of the work until April 2006. By building this spring, I can take advantage of longer daylight hours, dryer conditions and warmer weather which will ultimately reduce the duration of the project. It is my intent to schedule the final building inspection before the end of September.
