Formwork: Design, construct, erect, shore, brace, and maintain formwork according to ACI 301. B. Vapor Retarder: Install, protect, and repair vapor retarder sheets according to ASTM E 1643. Place sheets in position with longest dimension parallel with direction of pour. 1. Lap joints 6 inches and seal with manufacturer's recommended tape. 2. Recoat areas subjected to heavy rainfall within 3 hours after initial application. Maintain continuity of coating and repair damage during curing period. 3.6 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Testing Agency: Owner will engage a Qualified Independent Testing and Inspecting Agency to sample materials, perform tests, and submit test reports during concrete placement. Tests will be performed according to ACI 301. B. Continuous Field Inspection: The Independent Testing Agency shall be present at all times during the placing of structural reinforced concrete. Work shall not proceed until all inspections are completed. Prior to placing concrete, the Inspector shall inspect: 1. Accuracy, configuration, and cleanliness of all formwork 2. Quantity, cleanliness, and placement of all reinforcing steel. C. DESIGN LOADS: In addition to the dead loads, the following loads were used for design: Roof 30 psf LL Floors 60 psf LL Earthquake and wind forces are determined per IBC 2003. SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Contractor shall verify all dimensions, and existing conditions in the field before proceeding. Contractor shall notify the Architect of any discrepancies or field changes prior to installation or fabrication. In case of discrepancies between the existing conditions and the drawings, the Contractor shall obtain direction from the Architect before proceeding. Noted dimensions take precedence over scaled dimensions - -DO NOT SCALE DRAWINGS. Contractor shall verify all existing conditions before commencing any demolition. Contractor shall provide adequate shoring and bracing of all structural members and existing construction, as required, and in a manner suitable to the work sequence. SAWN LUMBER: Sawn lumber shall conform to "Grading and Dressing Rules," West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau (WCLIB), latest edition. All sawn lumber to be #2 Hem —Fir, preservative — treated per the specifications. Framing accessories and structural fasteners shall be as manufactured by Simpson Company (or approved equal), and of the size and type shown on the drawings. All other framing nails shall be common nails and shall be of the size and number indicated on the drawings. Nailing not shown shall be as indicated on Table 2304.9.1 of the IBC. PLYWOOD: Plywood panels shall conform to the requirements of the latest edition of "U.S. Product Standard PS -1 for Construction and Industrial Plywood." Each panel shall bear the APA grade trademark of the American Plywood Association. Plywood shall be as follows: Shear Wall Sheathina: 1/2" 32/16 C —D INT APA with Exterior Glue (CDX) Shear wall sheathing shall be blocked with 2x framing at all panel edges, unless noted otherwise.
