Mosley, We are in the process of designing two dust collection systems for the Group Health Riverton Operation Center, (ROC), renovation. Our goal in writing this letter is to diffuse any potential problems that might arise through local Interpretations of the NFPA or Fire code. As we have discussed in a previous phone conversation, we will have two small dust collection units that each have approximately 400 CFM. The first dust collector ROCDC001, will be located in a dedicated perimeter room, vented to the outside, and have explosion doors with sheet metal vents directly vented to the outside. The collector will be used to collect small (5 micron) particles of plastic from a production lens grinder. The second dust collector, ROCDC002, is located on the roof of the two story building. It will have explosion doors, with no recycling of air back into the building. The collector serves the pharmacy area where it will collect pill dust from two small packaging rooms. For both of the systems, we will use SMACNA 8" to 11" negative pressure class ductwork design. Enclosed is a detail of ROCDC001 located inside the building on a perimeter wall, and ROCDC002, located on the root. Please look over the design and let us know If the design is appropriate to the application. Thank -you for your cooperation.
