Keefe, Fire Chief Fire Department Review Control #B96 -0090 (512) April 16, 1996 Re: Boeing Company Building #21 -03 - 3417 South 120th Place Dear Sir: The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the following concerns: 1. Exit doors shall he openable from the inside without the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort. Exit doors shall not be locked, chained, bolted, barred, latched or otherwise rendered unusable. All locking devices shall be of are approved type. (UFC 1207.3) Obstructions, including storage, shall not be placed in the required width of an exit, except projections as permitted by the Building Code. Exits shall not be obstructed in any manner and shall remain free of any material or matter where its presence would obstruct or render the exit hazardous. (UFC 1203) Dead bolts are not allowed on auxiliary exit doors unless the dead bolt is automatically retracted when the door handle is engaged from inside the tenant space. Exit hardware and marking shall meet the requirements of the Uniform Fire Code. (UFC 1207.1- 1212.8) Hallways in your building are constructed as one -hour rated exit corridors. In order to maintain this one -hour rating, doors leading into the corridor must be kept self - closing or the door hardware must meet certain criteria of the Building & Fire Codes.
