APPLICATION SUBMITTAL In order to ensure that your application is accepted for plan review, please make sure to fill out the
application completely and follow the plan submittal checklist on the reverse side of this form. Handouts are available at
the Building counter which provide more detailed information on application and plan submittal requirements.
Application and plans must be complete in order to be accepted for plan review.
VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of
Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3670 prior to submitting
application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is
subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules.
BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect /engineer, or contractor
licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this
permit application and obtain the perm will be required as part of this submittal.
EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 160 days following the date of application shall
expire by limitations, The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180
days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition).
No application shall be extended more than once.

The following is a breakdown of what I will supply and install for adding a two story
storage addition and a second level deck to your home.
Storage building:
The foundation will be a monolithic pour (footing and slab poured at the same
time) and the footing will be 18" wide and 8" deep with the main floor being 4" deep. The
finish will be a brush finish. The fooling and slab will have rebar per code.
The building structure will be single wall construction framed as follows:
walls 2 x 4
second floor Joist size: 2 x 10
floor: 3/4" T &G plywood glued & nailed.

We will tie the new roof into the existing roof and use torch down material as the roofing
member. The fascia, (roof edge), of the new structure will match the existing in size.
There will be one 3' x 2'6" white vinyl sliding window in the east side of each level.
The siding will be a composite type as manufactured by Louisiana Pacific and is 1 x 8 to
match the existing siding in size and is lapped like the existing siding. The 1st floor will
have a 5' double door and the 2nd floor will have a 3' single door.
Patio:
We will pour a concrete patio that is 10' x 23' that adjoins the storage building and runs
north along the house. It will have a brush. finish. The outside edge will be thickened to
support the deck posts.
Deck:
The main supports will be 2 x 10's perpendicular from the house. The 2 x 10 will
sandwich the 4 x 4 posts which are 8' on center, (see drawing). The other deck joists will
be 2 x 6's will be 16" on center and span between the 2 x 10's.
All the framing members are pressure treated type lumber. The stairs will be at the north
end of the deck and come down parallel with the deck. They will be 3' wide and have 3
support stringers, (what the treads sit on). There will be a 4' x 3' platform mid way down
the run. I will supply the 5/4 x 4 cedar decking material and the 1 x 8 cedar boards for the
deck rail. The deck screws will also be supplied. (2,575 + Oh Boy have flint!).

Doors and sidelites
The doors and windows will be white vinyl type with low E glass, grids, and insect screens,
The dining room and basement windows will be replaced with a 5' sliding glass door and
two 1 1/2' sidelite windows on either side of the door. The inside will be trimmed out with
a finish jamb piece and have 2" colonial casing ready for paint. Painting by others.
The bedroom window will be replaced with a 5' sliding glass door and trimmed the same as
the others.

Installation of siding and decking
Deck rail and stair rail. (4 x 4 posts installed by us)

Narrative of proposed construction and the wall section
for the storage room(s) addition indicate single wall construction.
(lapped siding over 2x4 studs) Such construction must be provided
with braced wall panels at each corner in each direction and on each
floor level. Bracing panel may be of plywood not less than 5/16 inches
thick for wall studs spaced at 16 inches on center and must be not less
than 48- inches wide All edges must occurover wall studs or solid blocking.
Plywood panel to be nailed with 6d common or deformed shank nails
at 6" on center at all edges and 12" on center at intermediate supports.
Alternate bracing methods may be proposed for approval. However,
note that,' let -in bracing is not an approved method of bracing for
construction in seismic zone 3 (Tukwila).
