General Comments :.
1. Architect to stamp and sign all dwgs.
2. Specify in General Notes: Controlling code is the 1970
edition of the Uniform Btailding Code.
3. Also specify in General Notes: The bending stress of all
lumber used.
The following . comments cover descrepancies between the Structural
calculations and the construction dwgs.
1. 01111 sheet 5, specify 5 -1/8 x 19 -1 /2 glum- lam(2400f)
(center beam) as 'shown in structural notes. See UBC
Sec. 2511 (a -3).
2. The Simpson column cap (CC5 -6 &8) is over stressed by
approx. 37%. See detail on 6/7: &7/7.
The Simpson column to . foundation connection (CB-46) is
overstressed by a factor of 3. See detail 12/7.
The shear -wall post to foundation connection is shown

5. The &oot shear wall on the flatroof section of the
structure calls for inside- outside nailing for shear
resistance. Inside nailing is not allowed. Reason:

Dear Frank:
We are returning to you under separate cover, the above subject
plan which has been checked for conformance with the Uniform
Building Code, and following are the comments of the plan checker:
1. Occupant load is to be posted and limited to 100.
2. A railing barrier is to be installed back of door # 15.
3. Door # 17 blocks exitway from door # 16.
4. Door # 15 cannot he used as an exit, and should be so marked.
5. Nonabsorbent finish and backing for toilet room walls and
floor should conform to Section 1711 (a).
6. mechanical ventilating system in baths should provide a
five- minute air change directly to the outside. Section 1305 (a).
Section 1405 (a).
7. Exit doors should be openable from the inside without the
use of a key, special knowledge, or effort. Section 3303 (c).
8. Interior stairways should be enclosed with one -hour fire -
resistive walls. Section 3308 (m). Glass is to be removed
from wall of coffee shop and gift shop.
9. Attics of combustible material should be divided into areas
not esceeding 3000 square feet. Section 3205 (b).
10. The interior wall and ceiling finishes should be specified
and comply with Table No. 42 -8 and Section 4203.
