Q cL9AM I have reviewed the letter from the property owner's manager. They have accepted responsibility for the lack of compaction tests on the sub -grade for the ramp. They acknowledge that if there is failure of the ramp due to the quality of compaction, it will be the responsibility of the contractor to repair this (not Tukwila). Given the fact that the quality of the sub -grade compaction (in this particular case) is not a life safety concern, the need for special inspection and related compaction tests may be waived. April 9, 2003 City of Tukwila Building Department 6300 Southcenter Boulevard Tukwila, Washington 98188 -2544 RE: ProLogis - International Grocer Ramp Permit Tracking No. D03 -012 Dear Sirs: The above referenced project scope of work was limited to the addition of an exterior ramp in an existing asphalt truck court. We do not consider the addition of this ramp to be a life- safety issue as it is not used for exiting or for ADA accessibility. We, as property owners, accept the quality of construction in regards to the level of compaction of the subgrade prior to asphalt being placed on the ramp surface. We elected not to require special inspections for testing of the soils compaction. If the ramp does fail we understand that it will be the general contractor's responsibility to repair or replace the ramp based on our warranty agreement and not the responsibility of the City of Tukwila. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns. Sincerely, Kristine P.
